Manning American Borders
What benefits could be achieved by manning American borders with American soldiers?
IF it were done by first closing some of our more than 900 bases worldwide where our troops are currently stationed (which would instantly make plenty of troops available for border duty), then a few benefits are obvious:
1. The border could actually be secured.
2. Our soldiers would be serving their home country IN their home country FOR their home country.
3. The cost to maintain military units within the U.S. is considerably lower than the often profligate expense required to base them in other countries.
4. Those of us who live near the borders would no longer have to live in a war zone. (Believe me, we're in one now.)
There's more, but that's a start.
Customs and Border Protection, ICE, and most of the Department of Homeland Security could be disbanded, while the army would actually be doing something useful for a change.

Can anyone make a case for Open Borders that stands up to scrutiny? When people protest to demand open borders, I wonder if they've thought the idea through all the way. I don't see how economically it can work, but I'm willing to debate it with anyone who can show how it's beneficial to both...

Can anyone give me a good reason for the USA to have open borders?I've heard so many people cite pro and con reasons for a border wall, but most don't go into detail. I'd like to hear WHY America should keep our borders open or closed? It's not your political opinion I want to hear, but...
