Why is the U.S. gov't ready to veto a UN vote regarding Palestine?
Later this month there will be a United Nations vote to recognize Palestine as as a country. The United States plans on vetoing the resolution as it has done for countless years. Will this &%$# ever stop? Does nobody want to see an end to violence? Why not accept that Palestinians need a country too?

Well, not all the answers - but it's certainly "the right path" so to speak.
It has long been US policy to keep peace from ever being established between Israel and Palestine. Noam Chomsky has done extensive study on this subject that is full of state department resources.
