India is trying to eradicate and make majority of the population free of the disease. However, it is next to impossible to make claims for complete eradication considering the diverse ecology, social and economical conditions.
WHO has removed India from the list of Polio endemic countries and there has been not a single case of Polio registered in India in last one year.
That is something to cheer about!!!
