Is there a cause you would be willing to die for? Or more importantly, kill for?
My Family. I would die for them. And if in danger? I would be forced to take action to protect them.
I would be honored to spend my life for a number of worthy causes. Those that come to mind are those that involve human slavery and for instance those in South America and Africa where bands of militants destroy entire communities and enslave/kill the inhabitants. Just set me loose under the cover of darkness, give me a few sharp, silent weapons and I will take as many of these vile post humans out as I can before they catch up to me. Hell, I will even do so as a distraction while Josak and Credence2 get the innocents to safety!
Of course I would also be willing to do so in the name of my country, preferably in its defense. Red Dawn was one of the most inspiring movies of its time and it instantly comes to mind upon pondering this question.
Actually, I am not "willing" to die, or kill, for any cause. However, if my country "called on me to serve in a war or other conflict," I would answer that call, without hesitation.
Only one cause to kill for: Survival! I can die for a threat on my life or my families. It would have to be a very dire situation for me to die for any social issue.
As Pat Benetar said, "I've seen so much worth dying for, so little worth killing over." I think she may have it right....
violence doesn't solve problems - protection of one's family is different than a "cause" - I am passionate about many causes and will do what I can to raise awareness, help etc. but violence is never a solution. One day humanity, for its own sake, needs to learn this.
So if we sent the Nazi's fruit baskets and love poems they would have stop slaughtering people? Damn, why didn't you say so!
Have to agree with Barnsey on this one, pacifism is great until the chips are down and the other side does not practice it.
defending innocents is not the same as going out and killing for a cause Barnsey, way to twist words. It takes more intelligence to figure out non-violent solutions to problems than knee jerk reactions.
Your right, which is why when dealing with the factions i mentioned there is no use. They are not intelligent in any way shape or form so there is no dealing with them.
I honestly haven't the slightest clue. I'm fairly levelheaded and I'm not sure there's much that can stir up homicidal anger in me. Or suicidal. Maybe... MAYBE my mom.
I would only kill if necessary for survival or in a desperate need for self-defense where there was no other choice. But I would die to protect my close family and close friends if needed.
Catching someone in the act of sodomy pedophile on an infant. I would go insane with rage and berserk that person to death repeatedly - I would kill that person dead and would not stop until pulled off by the police or shot down myself.

Is there a god that one should be willing to die and kill for?It would seem that the history of Judaism, Christianity and Islam is steeped in the savagery of brutal force in the conversion and subjugated obedience of minds. That such behavior continues today, at what point in human evolution do we...
