Is America still the only superpower?

Given China is rising that fast, do you still think US is the sole superpower?

In today's world, the answers varies with the approach and the risk.  The best example today is the situation with Iran.  If it just dealt with Iran, the risk would be low and the outcome relatively high in terms of any action by the USA.  Enter China into the picture leasing oil and gas fields in Iran and officially calling those lands "sovereign Chinese grounds" all at a time when Iran is on the brink of having nuclear weapons likely financed and facilitated by China.  Iran is turn is mouthing off regarding Israel knowing that any action by the USA could well bring a confrontation with China and put the world on the brink of a third world war.  This is what happens when we attempt bargain from a position of weakness. LBJ and then Nixon both cowered at the thought of bumping up against the Russians or the Chinese in Southeast Asia...consequently we did not come away with a decisivie victory nor did we eradicate communism from the region.  Obama has cut the U.S. nuclear arsenal by more than half in only one four year term.  His goal is to get it to a level on par with the Chinese yet far below that of the Russians. Our strength is now lacking and diminishing by the day with this President yet he plans to bridge that gap with diplomacy....which we got a dose of in Libya and Egypt recently.  So much for talking and apoligizing to fanatics.  At this point, I think it might be naive to refer to America as a super-power.  We are led by people who do not recognize threats or dangers in our world and who believe that everything can either be talked out or bought.  One day, all of those mistakes will rise up on our own shores but it will be too late to correct them at that point.  ~WB

Yeah you are right.. When we see countries like China and Russia are supporting rogue nations of Iran, Syria, North Korea and few others while US & Europe remain silent, it remind me of march of Germany before WW 1&2 while Europe was silent..

No the US is not a superpower anymore. The US trade in goods and services is in deficit. Its imports are superior to its exports. It is endebted. Its currency has no value...
The only power remaining is the military one.
China is the big winner. The BRIC formation is a force to take into consideration for the future. Countries like Venezuela, Iran... will be tomorrow new players. Maybe it explains why the US is targeting them.
