Would you believe a story about this Presidential Election being rigged?

I recently read a story written by Michael Snyder claiming that the electronic voting machines were "rigged" in Cuyahoga County in Cleveland Ohio.  His article indicates that in over 100 precincts, President Obama won over 99% of the vote, something he believes is a statistical impossibility.  The article also includes numbers from several Precincts where Mitt Romney received zero votes, exactly one vote, and exactly two votes.  He further alleges that since Ohio is a swing state the machines were rigged to ensure Obama won Ohio to secure a win in this election.  Do you think this is possible?

I am sure the whole voting process is being looked at but, the far right also tends to exaggerate a lot, I mean did you see the UN workers near your polling place? I doubt their would be the same outrage from the right if Romney had won. I did not hear it from them in 2000 when Bush won, and half the country doubted it. Looks like this is our future one side will probably be screaming foul from now on, since shaking hands and saying Ok let's get to work together would make use of our ability for logical thought.

There is never a Presidential election without this type of rumor coming into play. That type of "rigging" is impossible with the amount of people (Republicans and Democrats) voting and it not being caught early. President Obama won 50% of the vote, with Romney winning 48% with the rest going to independents, etc. If the voting was rigged as you say, it would not have been this close.

Actually 2000 was pretty bad also, the Democrats where not happy with the count in Florida, when Bush was elected and many still believe he stole that election.

In every election, someone says the voting was rigged. Honestly, I'm just tired of hearing it each time.

There are some well-documented problems with the electronic voting machines. There are also some which don't produce a paper backup. That doesn't mean any were rigged, but personally, I don't think there should even be the possibility. Votes should be cast on paper and counted in front of the world before they are ever moved anywhere.

As to the districts where Romney received zero votes, that isn't terribly surprising for inner city minority communities. And as for Michael Snyder, statistics are not a religion. What one believes is irrelevant. If these results were statistically impossible than he should show his work. Republicans getting zero or few votes in some urban city districts is not unusual.

No matter which party loses a close election the losing side will believe they got cheated.

There is inherent corruption in the system.  It's possible in a district with a few hundred voters for someone to get Zero in an area that favors the other party.  But not in 59 districts where the result is 18k to ZERO. Human error alone would account for at least some votes.  But the reality is that it probably would not have changed the outcome.  Romney lost because he lost 3 million conservatives that stayed home because they were pissed about how they got treated at the convention.  That plus Ron Paul would not endorse him, and his republican base is very loyal.

Of course.  We have computers without a paper trail.

And what is the point of not having a better system where we have a paper trail?

So someone can fraudulently effect the outcome perhaps?

And why do we not demand a voter provide ID to prove who they are?

So those so inclined can vote more than once, in more than one district perhaps?
