Does it surprise anyone that the media was looking for a dark skinned man?

During the first hours after the bombing we were looking for a “dark” skin man or men when in reality it was two white men (Russians immigrants)?

My news is reporting them to be Chechens from Turkey, living in Massachusetts only for the last year, I'm not sure though. I don't really care where their from, I care what they did. I would like to think there was a reason for them looking for a dark-skinned man other than it being the "obvious choice".

Maybe that obvious choice is why it was them and not a dark skin person/s. If I was a terrorist leader and wanted to have a terror campaign in a country like the US I would use people that would fit in rather than stand out.

I'm still trying to put the pieces together and understand it, as much as it could be understood. I did hear the news speculate that they may have been chosen by some terrorists in a Jihad -related act because they were established here and flew unde

This really does concern me, but it shows the stereotyping that many (including the press) get into. There was a question on here about the bombings, and one response stated they believed from the 'sketchy details' that it was Islamic extremists. At the time they posted that, there was so little info that it was shocking they could post something so offensive. The press in the UK can be the same, stereotyping people from certain backgrounds (then again, the Chancellor of the Exchequer is probably the worst culprit for it).

Of course, their first inclination would be radical muslims. This is why they were looking for a dark skinned person. Come to find out, they were radical muslims who were white.
