What will it take for Americans to change the current campaign funding practices?

Money seems to be driving the U.S. political system. Big bucks are dictating policy.

It would require non-greedy politicians. Good luck with that. But in all seriousness, the people living in America would have to strictly oppose some of the practices. However, I doubt this will happen anytime soon. It is really unfortunate because even presidents that promised transparency like Obama have betrayed the people (not that any Republican is better).

Hmmmm....a third major political party? It would take some serious work. Just wondering if the possibility is even feasible.

A third major political party would be great but it takes decades to build

And you likely know that my response is what better time to start than now? Change will only happen if us Americans go after it.

Two things: There would have to be public funding of campaigns--that is, the federal government sets aside a certain amount of money for each candidate for political campaigns. That is the only way the money can be controlled. Second, the "campaign season" should only last about two months in today's mass-media world.

What sort of timeframe do you see this taking, if possible?
