If you could have lunch with any, one, US President, who would you choose?

What would you hope to learn from him?  And why would you pick that president?

Abraham Lincoln, his thoughts and viewpoints seem quite inspiring. He's not a president, but I think it would be awesome to talk to Martin Luther King, too.

It would be interesting to see what both President Lincoln and Mr. King thought of our "progress" and our America today!  I'm not so sure they'd be thrilled!

I would have lunch with John F. Kennedy on November 21, 1963.  That way I can warn him about what will happen if he decides to ride aboard the Dallas motorcade the following day.

So you would change history if you could? It's definitely noble to try and save a life; I wonder how it would affect things today. Or perhaps it would only change things in an alternate timeline.

It's too hard to pick one, kbdressen. I can think of four I'd love to chat with over lunch: Obama, Bill Clinton, George W. Bush, and Kennedy.
But since I can only pick one, it would have to be Obama so I can ask him,  from my perspective of understanding, what it was really like being the first president of color. I want to learn from him how he dealt with the "two conversations" that constantly went on in his head. People of color, particularly African-Americans, always have an awareness of how they come across to the majority race and how they are actually perceived. I think it would be an interesting conversation with a man who held the highest position of power to put his guards down and talk about that reality.

I hope that there is a day in the future in which he can let his guards down and talk about those realities.  We talk about so many fights for equality as if they are passed and sometimes forget that we are watching tomorrow's history, today!
