Is the USA based on a war economy?
Are we living on a system of producing, mobilizing and allocating resources to sustain the violence? The so-called global war on terrorism does not exist, the "war" part is all about politics and terrorism is merely a tactic. Is there 'no war against terror' - just 'Pax Americana? Are all of us under the control of of war economy czars? Does the war profiteers such as Lockheed, Boeing, BAE, General Dynamics and Raytheon dominant USA politcs? We now have a 'choice' of Bernie the Bomber, Hillary the Hawk & Donald the Dingbat. What is really sad is that Americans are OK about this.
The USA has been on a war economy since WWII. Remember Korea, Vietnam and the Mideast wars. None of these wars were needed from the standpoint of the USA. These wars were fought out of Fear or Greed. It is time to withdraw our forces from around the world and cut taxes.
Faceless men in boardrooms who determine their life's meaning by the sales they make, the ego-driven self image of 'how they appear' to others of the same ilk, the power for powers sake. Until they fade away little will change.
Tom, remember we are individuals with free will. All one has to do is become a conscientious objector and you as an individual will not have to war with anyone.
War economy started after the Civil War and sold surplus production to Europe before WW1
Well over half of the budget of the USA goes to the military. Our military is larger than the next 5 countries combined!
Our country would be much better served in reducing the military budget and using those funds for infrastructure and education as Bernie Sanders advocates.
There is no country that can amass an army big enough to come to our shores. Even if they could, they would be decimated within days. This is why they choose to try and attack us via small groups of terrorists. But that, of course, is more deadly for them than for us.
The fat cats are just getting richer and richer on the war efforts around the globe. Why would they stop and start caring for our citizens now?
Social media can do amazing things these days.
I don't understand your comment. What things are you referring to?
Just looking at some figures: $116,000,000 to build one F35C figher jet and $134,000,000 to build a 210 bed hospital. You don't need to be a genius to know which is better value. What are we humans doing! Where's the sanity!

The USA is against terrorism. We all know this. In the fight against terrorism the USA will invade countries, kidnap people from countries like Pakistan, and use drones to kill terrorists. When the USA funds the overthrow of a regime, supplies weapons and money to insurgents who are committing...

I hate that term, but didn't quite know how to phrase it better.Obviously, there have been a LOT of incidents and investigations in the last fewmonths that have raised terrorists and US security to new levels of scrutiny. So my questions: Using 9/11 as baseline, how have "terrorism" and/or...

Despite how unsustainable and morally hazardous the welfare state is, it does not begin to reach the moral bankruptcy of unwavering support of the state military. For conservatives, it is good and just to complain about every government program under the sun except the military. The military is the...

The United States has spent more than $ 1 trillion on wars since the September 11, 2001, says a recently released Congressional report.Adjusting for inflation, the outlays for conflicts in Afghanistan, Iraq and elsewhere around the world make the "war on terrorism" second only to World...
