I'm new and have issues trusting a site with my IRS information. Anyone have it stolen yet?

I just want the opinion of others about the legitimacy of the site. Much appreciated.

I trust the legitimacy of Hubpages.  That being said, you can get an EIN number, which many people who are independent contractors have, and use that instead of your SSN.  Now your EIN is still attached to your name, however, if you have an issue with trust it may still be best to use an EIN number.  That way your SSN which is used for more than just taxes is more secure. You can get your EIN number from the IRS Website.

James, I appreciate the information. It's a lot to consider for earnings that aren't guaranteed. Thanks again.

You're welcome. I recommend the use of an EIN number for any self-employed income. It protects your SSN and if you ever hire an employee or contractor to work for you then you can give them the EIN instead of the SSN for tax purposes.

I've been on this site for 7 years now and I've never had a problem.
