Will Sweden interfere and act as a mediator in the case of a war between N.Korea and U.S?
Sweden played an exceptional role in Korean War providing the Swedish Red Cross Field Hospital and involved in maintaining the armistice by virtue of the position it had in the Neutral Nations Supervisory Commission. Will it play the same role in the case of a between N. Korea and U.S is a question for consideration?
China is the main player now. Sweden's time for playing a formal neutral observer has long since past. They might facilitate help through the U.N. but never as a mediator. Remember Hans Blix's efforts during the run up to the Iraq War? It went for naught.
Sweden's stance in Europe is changing now. They are not as neutral as they used to be. That's mainly because of Russian influence and interference in the region. So they are looking much more inward at this point. Terrorism is another growing problem domestically.
