What if the media is being played?

The latest news by the media is how Trump made 129 miss statements this past week in his rallies...
It made the headlines, and it made for good confirmation for all anti-Trumpsters...he is a liar...

The real question is why the focus on this? Is what Trump say really that important?
What about what his policies have resulted? Either good, bad or neutral, wouldn’t it make more sense to focus and report on the news of the day rather than on twitter and comments made off the cuff? Or cat fights with his political enemies?

Here is the more sinister view. What if it is all by design?
What if Trump has figured out how to out smart the anti-media who has attacked him since day one?
What if he use this tactic to distract and confuse and to confound the media covering him? And what if he is winning?
    Interesting thought to contemplate.

If I figured this out, how come the media is clueless?
After 2 years of the same behavior, with no results, you think they would try something else?
The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again expecting a different outcome...
The American main stream media has totally lost it. They cannot figure out why some of the people love Trump...
They have not done their homework.
        Here is a clue...
Just go out to red states and talk to some real people.
You may be pleasantly or not pleasantly surprised.

You and I both.  I've wondered if he is playing them for fools.  Consider:

We are led to believe that every person Trump has had business dealings with, employer, contractor or partner, has been cheated.  Yet he still hires people and finds contractors.

We are led to believe that he is a criminal, with hundreds or thousands of crimes on his shoulders...but I have yet to see the first court conviction, let alone the dozens one would expect of such a large business.

We are led to believe he is a child and woman abuser, but he still finds women to work with - women that apparently trust him - and has zero credible claims of child abuse against him.

We are led to believe that the world hates him, that he is universally considered a piece of trash, yet other governments are working with him to improve both themselves and the US.

The list goes on and on of media presentations and predictions that are total failures...while our president continues to work diligently and effectively right through their claims.

Donald Trump has been around a long time and has worked with thousands of people - people that do not like him and will do what they can to harm him.  And he has done it successfully, overall.

Is the media but another fiddle in his hands?  I won't say "No".

            You make an excellent point.
And the media thinks we are stupid and Hillary call us deplorables...
Who is really stupid and clueless? TDS just keeps them occupied.

"Is what Trump say really that important?"

Yes jackclee, I think what a president says is really important.

But which is more important? What he said to distract the media or what he does in office to help the American people?
        Be honest.
If Trump told a bold face lie in a political rally in Iowa, does it have more or less impact on you and me than let say the tax reform or the appointment of Kavanauh?

Speaking generally, I can't answer that question jackclee.  It is possible that his words are a master plan calculation, but whether that is likely is definitively unanswerable, for me.

It seems your perspective boils down to an ends justifies the means acceptance, and generally speaking I cannot accept that.

If the question was posed relative to some specific, then I could answer. For instance, your Iowa rally example; I can think of as many possible lies that could be more damaging to me, as I can that would have no impact on me at all.

Later you mentioned the Obama/ACA example. If that statement about your doctor convinced enough voters to tell their Congressmen they were for it, then yes, that lie did affect me more and was important. But, I don't think the voters had an impact, I think the vote was strictly partisan, so whether that lie impacted voters has no bearing on me. So that lie didn't matter.

I would disagree with the ACA...in a way and not particularly about the personal doctor choice.

The ACA was presented as health care, not insurance, and that certainly got a lot of people excited.  It was presented as cheap, and that did, too.  People got the idea that their care was free and unlimited - a great way to gain acceptance.  And finally, it was presented as a way for the poor to obtain their "right" to health care at virtually no cost to anyone.

All of those were "lies", whether simple lack of detail, only part of the story or outright falsehoods.  And they certainly DID affect us all.

Oh yes, one more thing. Think back to Obama and did you get upset when he said “ if you like your doctor, you can keep your doctor” under ACA?
That lie was actually about a policy that he passed into law that does affect you and me.

Yes, Trump is a genius, the left-wing media stupidly reports what the president says, and Trump's supporters are too smart to fall for it because they recognize Trump's brilliant master plan.

    Sounds about right. big_smile
