How will Michael Flynn be remembered in history

Michael Flynn was an unregistered agent of Turkey, attempting to have an exiled cleric returned to Turkey for punishment.  He worked with the Russian ambassador to try to remove sanctions on Russia.  Is he considered a traitor or someone that was tricked by the US Government.  Was there potential harm done?

      Hi, Diane,
On who's behalf was he acting? Did he undertake these initiatives on his own? Is our government playing the old game of "plausible deniability?"
In answering these questions, we can determine if he was truly a traitor or some sort of foiled undercover operative that just happened to get caught.
I wonder what he will take to the grave secretly because his life depends on it and so does that of his family.
Outwardly, he looks like a traitor to me.

Commentators stress that we don't know what the judge read.  His copy was not redacted.  Based on what we know, treason doesn't seem appropriate.  However, just did the judge see.  Also, while he was in his position, he was trying to get the cleric hauled off to Turkey.

The reason Obama fired him is possibly the same reason Trump should not have hired him.  When egos get involved, we make stupid mistakes.  Flynn Jr. is on Twitter spewing ridiculousness.

When "commentators stress that we don't know what the judge read," it doesn't seem like the question is a fair one. I, for one, do not have enough knowledge to make a fair judgment. It would be a biased opinion. Hopefully enough information will be released so we will know whether Flynn has been treated fairly or if he is a traitor.

Hi!  My comment about what judge knows relates to him using the word "treason."  My question is about his conduct in general.  He was chanting "Lock her up!" for HRC when he was an unregistered agent for Turkey.  He accepted a position as the National Security person when he was under investigation by the FBI for security reasons.  After he took office, he was trying to push through a request for the Turkish cleric to be returned to Turkey.  He had his son working with him in the White House while his son passed along conspiracy theories (HRC running a child porn ring in the basement of a pizza parlor) that were totally ridiculous.  If you are on Twitter, look at the tweets from his son.

Ok, glad you clarified that. I'm not on Twitter, so you probably know more than I do, but I think of him as a hypocrite. It seems too many republicans are. They chant "Lock her up" about Hillary, yet it's ok for Ivanka to do the same thing with her emails. Even Trump said about Ivanka's use of private email server as "that's different." Really! Tonight the world is in a gasp at the resignation of Gen. Mattis, who resigned obviously in disgust. I agree with CNN, "Is there an adult left in the White House?"

I will have to learn more before about Flynn I can say more. So much is happening so fast that I can't keep them straight.

They are saying Mueller should be coming out with a report in February.  It looks like Roger Stone is going to be indicted.  Mueller requested an official copy of Stone's testimony before the House.

I agree with Tera Setamayer.  The Republicans should have stopped Donald Trump at the beginning and not allowed him to run as a Republican.  He is becoming unhinged or, I should say, more unhinged.

Mattis' letter addressed all of the major concerns that put us in a dangerous position.

Diane, I certainly can't argue with you on those points! But there were some others running against Trump for the Republican nomination who, to me, were just about as ill-suited, such as Çarly Forina and Chris Christie. I probably wouldn't have approved of any of them, but there were some professional politicians in the running who, as president, would have acted with some knowledge of how Washington and the international scene runs. And they would have known how to behave presidentially. There really is some common sense to electing someone who knows the score. But Trump was elected by inexperienced people who are convinced that "all" professional politicians are corrupt and need to be sent home. It goes back to whom would you select to do brain surgery on you, a first-year med student or a surgeon of 20 years? Sorry, I got off subject.

Who he is is reinforced by those around him.  It irritates me when people say, "but HRC's emails!"  They need to get over it.  She is not the president.  Donald Trump is who he was before on steroids.  The power to impact foreign relations based on his personal whims could cause another 911.  I think this is on subject because Flynn was especially picked because of his anger at Obama for being fired.  The military officers who worked with him talked about how ill-suited he was for the position.  Another Middle East expert resigned last night.  This is very concerning to me.  I'm glad the judge is making Flynn spill his guts.

I haven't gone away, Dian. You bring up interesting points. I'm glad the judge is making Flynn talk as well.
If a president fires a general, shouldn't that signal something to the incoming man?
Governing on spite is not a great political move.

What about the planted acting AG???  Now Whittaker sees that interfering is not going to be as easy as he thought.  They should make Jeff Sessions talk.

We are getting what his voters deserve.  Unfortunately we all suffer for their blindness.

In the public domain is a speech by Theodore Roosevelt entitled: "Man in the Arena." Teddy would have a fit if he was alive. He points out to the privileged that their primary responsibility is to help the men and women who do not have those privileges, by bringing them up to a point that they can help govern. Basically, he calls selfishness a death nail for the republic.
Fore we do not profit when money is the only measure of prosperity; a whole generation of politicians have forgotten this principle.
I just read the Dow rebounded over one thousand points. Maybe we will recover. But threatening to fire a man who knows about interests rates and the economy serves none of those who nothing of it.
Hope for the best, prepare for the worse.
