The article in American Thinker encapsulate this problem and put the blame squarely on the main stream media. For 2.5 years, they have promoted the idea that President Trump is racist...
It was in the Nazi era that Joseph Goebbels said -

“If you repeat a lie often enough, people will believe it. If you repeat a lie often enough, it becomes the truth. If you tell a lie big enough and keep repeating it, people will eventually come to believe it. If you repeat a lie long enough, it becomes truth. If you repeat a lie many times, people are bound to start believing it.”

    Someone should call them out...

Naturally they're going to blame the media. The quote describes Trump's rants perfectly, but only the ignorant are buying into his many lies. Some kill others because of his words. Be proud of him, Jack....

      Evil is to blame.

No matter who or what may be inflaming evil individuals, it's these individuals who're to blame, no one else.  If an outside 'force' doesn't move an evil person, that person will, soon, motivate themselves.

The outside motivation argument is mostly irrelevant.

I agree. People always have a choice in how they act.

I agree that the media should have some blame. People kill people, not the guns. Should we ban trucks because psychos have run into crowds or knives because people go on stabbing rampages?
My 2 cents on gun control is that no ordinary person needs automatic weapons. Handguns, hunting rifles, and shotguns (for hunting) should be okay.
In my opinion, 90% of the media is liberal. I get sick of the same stories over and over.

The maniac who perpetrated the violence is to blame.

You can't make excuses for violence in a civil society.

True, but the media can influence these disturbed individuals.
They watch TV news. They can be motivated to act for the wrong reasons.
The media has been demonizing Trump, Conservatives and his supporters...the deplorables according to Hillary.

They also demonize big business, and capitalism and cheer the rise of big government. It is this distortion of news that is partly responsible for the divide in our country.
We do have different world views by the left and the right. The media tip the scale by placing their thumb on the scale to promote Democratic socialism.

        The urge was already there...

The other factors such as media, is just the excuse to justify the follow through.

We are all exposed to the same types of stimuli and we are not out killing people because of video games, MSM, etc., etc.

This is square on the shoulders of the people doing the killing.

Sick is sick. Anything influences a sick mind. If you aren't cleaning a high powered, semi automatic, with a map of your next target in front of you then you can't blame the media, or anyone else for that matter, for the actions of the individual.
