Their behavior is an insult and a slap in the face of everyone who has come or does come to this country legally.  That means they obeyed the laws of the land.  Paid their money, was interviewed, stays out of trouble.  This country NEEDs legal immigrants.  Illegal immigrants are a huge problem.

“Your taxpayer dollars are footing the spiraling costs of illegal immigration

The costs of illegal immigration are comprehensive. Even after deducting the $19 billion in taxes paid by illegal immigrants, the 12.5 million of them living in the country results in a $116 billion burden on the economy and taxpayers each year. About two-thirds of this amount is absorbed by local and state taxpayers, who are often the least unable to share the costs.”

If we as taxpayers had any say as to how our hard earned money which the government takes from us is spent all of the country’s problems like illegal immigration would quickly be solved.

Your vote for the legislators who hold the purse strings is your say.

Yes that’s the problem. Do you give your money to someone to spend it for you, someone you don’t even know and didn’t choose?

That’s what legislators are. The person you vote for may not even get elected so there goes your argument.

How about when I pay my taxes I get to earmark what expenditures I want my money to go to. How about if everyone had the right to do that? You’d see the end of illegal immigration for sure, along with a lot of other wasteful spending and special interests would have to lobby the tax payers, not the charlatan legislators.
All we need is a tax form with all the expenditures listed and check the box for the one’s your money can go to and a description of the expenditure. Not so hard, then you would actually have a say about your own money.

After all, isn’t America all about the individuals rights!
The right to spend your own money.

I would start by voting down a wasteful and profligate military, would I be within my rights? But that is my choice for my representative in the legislature. Do you not see a conflict?

Who said anything about voting down anything? It’s your money, you should be able to at least have a say to spend it your way. Admit it, the way things are you have no say. With today’s technological advances there is no reason why you should give the control of your money over to charlatan legislators who don’t have your interests at heart. The Government doesn’t have a budget. If my money isn’t enough for what they want they can borrow, just like they do now.

I'm not a fan of that idea, for many reasons. One simple example is that those who make the decisions about how to spend the money need to be well informed on issues that the general public either cannot know about, like intelligence activities, or don't have the time or knowledge to do a proper job of it. That is why we elect and pay legislators. They are not perfect but they can be voted out (fired) if you don't like what they are doing.

No the truth is you would have to be well informed. Or are you used to spending your money frivolously? Decisions can be made by the government on how to spend it but that has nothing to do with what general categories you want your money to be spent on! Do you not know the government can borrow money to spend on things I don’t want my money spent on! People could choose to let the congress decide if they want but if you want to say what your money should or should not be spent on you should have that right. The government spends a lot of money they don’t get from our taxes (it’s called the national debt) so they can manage the country as they see fit without making me spend my money through taxes on waste!

+1  You're absolutely correct; an uninformed population should never decide where the money goes.

                The money?

You mean the money you worked for and made with your abilities and talents?

So if you are uninformed you shouldn’t have the right to decide where your money goes?

I guess if you are uninformed you shouldn’t have the right to earn it either? Maybe the government should be telling you how to earn it and spend it on yourself.

                Sounds like communism to me.

Yes, the money that you earned...and is required to operate the country you live in.  If you are not willing to educate yourself as to the countries needs then you should have no say in how it is spent.

Might sound strange coming from a conservative, but I've spent time on the other side of the fence, where I was one of those responsible for spending the "tax" and was appalled at the almost complete ignorance of the "taxed" that had zero idea of what was needed, what priorities were, or even what was available.  Not to mention what was legally required to be accomplished with some of those monies.  Appalled at the near total ignorance...that and the near total disregard for any needs of the community that they didn't make personal use of.

Well aren’t you at all ”appalled at the near total ignorance...that and the near total disregard for any needs of the community that they didn't make personal use of” that is exhibited by our government that results in massive waste of funds, lost billions unaccounted for, fraud and how about the legislators pockets that wind up rich because of the power our money gives them. Really, I think you give too little credit to honest hardworking Americans and too much credit to charlatans in government that waste our money. It’s not money they made by the sweat of their brows or did you forget that? I guarantee you the people who pay practically all the taxes are better educated and informed to decide where their money is best spent than  the government  which never prepares for the inevitable but only reacts to situations after they happen and usually by throwing money down a hole thonking that will fix it.

I think it would help if Democrats realized they have an obligation to not promote illegal immigration activity.

It would be nice if they could grasp the concept between legal and illegal immigration.  It would be nice if they actually valued American citizens and legal immigrants over illegal immigrants.

What would really be nice is the Trumpsters defining their party and leave the Left to define theirs. And to figure out when Mexico is going to pay for the wall like their role model said they would.

That way, all of our immigrations troubles will be over, Right, Mike?

Problem is that lefties refuse to give honest answers.

They claim, for instance, that illegal immigration is not acceptable...while protecting illegal aliens, while supporting illegal aliens, while demanding that anyone getting across the border in any manner be allowed to participate in American society in all capacities.  They lie, in other words.

Similarly, they claim they don't want the public disarmed...while producing an endless supply of bills and laws designed to reduce the number of weapons owned by the public.  A lie, in other words.

The lefties say they don't want socialism...while producing a never ending stream of additional giveaways and an ever increasing size of government.  A lie, in other words.

If lefties would get their act together and quit trying to blindfold the right as to their intentions, your comment would make more sense.  But they won't.

They can hold their lies tightly, they're no match for truth and reality.

I still don't understand why the obsession with illegal immigrants.

It makes them feel good to think they are "helping the unfortunate, the poor".  At least that's my operating theory.

Certainly they aren't helping the country or the citizenry of America by supporting millions of illegal aliens or by refusing to follow the laws of the country.

OK, Mike, I get your beef about illegal immigration. It may be the one of the few issues that I have strong differences from many of my Democratic brethren and sisters.. It is an area where I may consider myself a bit more conservative.

I say, you have to wait in line and immigrate in accordance with the law. You should NOT be allowed to vote, receive routine social services nor be allowed to work. But, you will have to talk to the corporate class and explain to them that this means no "Mexican Gardeners", exploitive and cheap labor or face severe penalties. If you are for that, OK

Cred, I'm all for punishing anyone who knowingly hires an illegal immigrant.

I also believe our immigration system needs to be expanded.  There are many illegal people here who are good people, but need someone to sponsor them.  There are organizations that step up and help, but they are overwhelmed.  I talked with someone once about starting a program where someone could sponsor an illegal immigrant and was not a relative or a business.  That of course could lead to illegal immigrants, who want to do the right thing, being taken advantage of by less than honest Americans.

I am enraged at illegal immigrants who believe the United States owes them.  I feel for the illegal immigrants who are frustrated because they want to do the right thing, but lack the ability to know what that requires or how to start the process.

When one of my relatives was taking courses to become a citizen, she told me how some people quit because they struggled to learn what was being taught.  They would say they just want to work and make money.

It is a difficult situation.  I think the Democrats do more harm than good by encouraging illegal immigration.

Why the obsession with illegal immigrants?

California will pay illegal immigrants not included in coronavirus stimulus

"California will be the first state to send money to illegal immigrants who did not qualify for assistance under the $2.2 trillion federal coronavirus stimulus package passed last month.

Democratic Gov. Gavin Newsom on Wednesday announced the allocation of $75 million in taxpayer funds for $500 payments to 150,000 adult immigrants who are reeling from the economic effects of the coronavirus pandemic."

More proof of the obsession of the Democrat party with illegal immigrants.

"House votes to support illegal immigrant voting in local elections

House Democrats voted Friday to defend localities that allow illegal immigrants to vote in their elections, turning back a GOP attempt to discourage the practice.

The vote marks a stunning reversal from just six months ago, when the chamber — then under GOP control — voted to decry illegal immigrant voting.

“We are prepared to open up the political process and let all of the people come in,” Rep. John Lewis, a Georgia Democrat and hero of the civil rights movement, told colleagues as he led opposition to the GOP measure."

Probably the best reason why the Democrats will never get control of Congress or the presidency! Obviously if that were to happen the country would likely eventually wind up being run by illegal immigrants.

Every conversation I have ever had with anyone on the left concerning this issue involved that person arguing that illegals do the dirty jobs, can be paid less and make our lives more comfortable. I find this argument racist, self centered and greedy but the left seems to find it valid.

Don't know about "racist", but the other two descriptions certainly apply.  It seems that some of us want a second class citizenry to wait on them and do their dirty work.  Reminds me of the sweat shops of long ago - something that we should have left far behind us, same as we did slavery.

The Democrats in New York have made it possible for people who are here illegally to obtain funding for college. Why in many cases do Democrats treat people who are here illegally better than US Citizens?

"The next time you pay your student loan, write a tuition check or contribute to your children’s college fund, know that New York Assembly Democrats and Gov. Cuomo are pushing to give free college tuition to illegal immigrants. Only feckless Senate Republicans, whose string of capitulations to Democrats is too long to list, stand in their way.

Illegal immigrants already get taxpayer-subsidized in-state tuition. The so-called Dream Act proposal, which just passed the Assembly, would make illegal immigrants eligible for the New York State Tuition Assistance Program and the Excelsior Scholarship, known colloquially as Cuomo’s free-college program.Albany’s Dreamers Act puts illegal immigrants before New York citizens"

"Why in many cases do Democrats treat people who are here illegally better than US Citizens?"

The hope is that illegal aliens will eventually be able to vote (already happening in some states) and that they will vote Democrat.  A pretty safe bet, given that they are already dependent on Democrat policies; extending the policies even further will only make it easier to live off the efforts of American citizens.

        So true.

And there is another reason. To create chaos, overload the entitlement system (the government or whatever you want to call it) to create  crises the Democrats can use to “never let a serious crisis go to waste” and use it to achieve their hidden or otherwise unpopular agendas.

The Democrats have even gone as far as warning illegal immigrants of ICE raids.  So far...

    1. Democrats will pay for illegal immigrants to go to college.
    2. Democrats want illegal immigrants to be able to vote
    3. Democrats defy the rule of law by having sanctuary cities and states
    4. Democrats will further defy the law by warning illegal immigrants about pending ICE raids designed to get criminals off the street.

Why are Democrats obsessed with illegal immigrants?

"Oakland Mayor Libby Schaaf tipped off immigrants about ICE raid and isn’t sorry she did

On Saturday, saying she felt it was her moral and ethical duty, she stood in front of television cameras and announced that “multiple sources” had informed her that ICE would be making arrests across the Bay Area. She didn’t intend to panic the community, she said — only to protect it.

ICE Deputy Director Thomas D. Homan, however, had a different idea of what she was trying to do, saying on Tuesday that he believed some of the 864 “criminal aliens” that still remained at large “were able to elude us thanks to the mayor’s irresponsible decision.”
