Mitch McConnell's Opponent Amy McGrath is Counting on His Unpopularity to Overcome Long-Shot Odds in Senate Race

Surveys conducted earlier this year showed her either tied with McConnell or trailing him by single digits. A Change Research poll had the two candidates deadlocked at 41 percent support among likely voters. Another survey from Garin-Hart-Yang showed McConnell ahead by 3 percentage points—although his victory was within the poll's margin of error.

McGrath has also proven she can match McConnell in fundraising. She outraised the incumbent by $5 million from January to March, according to the latest campaign finance data. In terms of overall cash on hand, the two are separated by just a few thousand dollars: McConnell currently has $14.9 million in the bank compared with McGrath's $14.7 million. Their race, if McGrath wins the Democratic nomination, is expected to be the most expensive of the 2020 cycle.

    ------

I would love to see McConnell go down. It will be tough. We have donated to this campaign and several others, McGrath is holding her own in fundraising, but I expect his corporate masters to step up and crush her as the race progresses. I hope the people of Kentucky can see though the money.

Looks like the Republicans are going to have their a$&es handed to them in regards to the Senate races in Arizona, "great day in the morning".

With a Democratic Senate and House even if Trump wins next Fall, he will be effectively neutralized.

I really don't want to see that. I believe a sweep is possible, though not easy. Trump's pandemic response didn't sit well with many seniors. Also, the Democratic base is more fired up than ever. I hope Biden's VP pick will keep people excited.

Given the enormity and seriousness of recent events, I have changed my mind about writing in Warren and will be voting for Biden. The crazy must be defeated in a resounding and unequivocal landslide to send a message that we reject it. No doubts, no questioning of the results.

Sooooo . . . Does your reason for abandoning a principle and becoming a Biden voter give you any insight as to why some, (many?), early non-Trump voters became Trump voters?

I knew that was coming. :-)

The answer is yes, I have always understood the concept of voting for the lesser of two evils. What I have always had a problem with is the unwillingness to admit that you voted for that evil. Trump admits to assaulting women, so voting for him is an admission that you're okay with that.

I am voting for an alleged sexual predator. I will, with my vote, indicate that I believe he is of acceptable character to occupy the office of POTUS.

Now, if Biden admits he is a predator, or a multitude of victims appear indicating a high probability of guilt, or if evidence surfaces indicating a high probability of guilt, then I will not vote for him.

Why thank you. It did cross my mind to keep it my dirty little secret, but.....either I'm too honest or too stupid. ;-)

As usual, we are on the same page, Panther.

It is getting desperate, Trump has got to go. I hope that Joe is smart enough not to select a "Mini Me" for his VP pick.
