The head of Seattle's police union lamented the lack of "leadership" in the city Saturday after reports emerged that an early morning shooting in the so-called 'CHOP' left one person dead and another in critical condition.

According to The Seattle Times, police homicide and assault detectives are investigating the shooting, citing a post on the Seattle Police Department's blotter.

"On June 20th, at approximately 2:30 AM, East Precinct officers responded to a report of shots fired in Cal Anderson Park," a statement on the blotter said.
"This is inside the area referred to as the Capitol Hill Organized Protest (CHOP). Officers attempted to locate a shooting victim but were met by a violent crowd that prevented officers from safe access to the victims.

Officers were later informed that the victims, both males, had been transported to Harborview Medical Center by CHOP medics.

Over the past week, there has been lots of social media chatter that CHOP citizens are becoming violent to anyone that they see as a threat, and are heavily armed.  It has been reported that the ANTIFA group Puget Sound John Brown Gun Club is policing CHOP.

Thoughts -- What if anything, should be done about CHOP?  Plus, is it wise for Black Lives Matter to be associated with the CHOP's far-left group of protestors? Is BLM being horribly used by this bunch of far-left protesters?

CHOP is an autonomous zone, none of our concern, let them do what they want.

Have a zone like CHOP in every major city where those that want to live free from social norms like police, courts, hospitals, etc. can live autonomously.

Leave them alone to do what they want, but when they step out of their zone, all laws and norms we live by apply.  And the police, EMTs. etc. never go in, leave them to it.

I'm sure something like this will become the norm, after Biden is elected and the Dems have control of the Senate... it will almost be a necessity to allow these lawless sectors, our economy will be in shambles, our society in chaos, more and more cities are going to start looking like Detroit with the added bonus of having CHOP zones.

Will you give them free water, power and sewer?  Internet and cable TV?  Because for sure they won't pay for it, and will not maintain the infrastructure either.  Then consider that that infrastructure is also feeding areas outside the CHOP zone and you have a large problem.

          So much peace and love...

"A shooting — the second in 48 hours — was reported Sunday night in the area known as the CHOP, or Capitol Hill Organized Protest.

A 17-year-old boy with a gunshot wound arrived at Harborview Medical Center in a private vehicle, according to hospital spokeswoman Susan Gregg. The teen was in serious condition but was treated and released without being admitted"

Seems to me it's time for the zone to start their own Hospital to treat all these peaceful accidents. I mean they won't let laws officers ibn to investigate their shootings, they should not be able to pick and choose what service they expect Taxpayers to provide... LOL

Oh, and there is this ---- On Thursday afternoon a deaf volunteer medic from the Capitol Hill Organized Protest intervened in a sexual assault occurring inside a tent in Cal Anderson park, stopping the situation from escalating any further, according to a police report of the incident.
The victim, signing through an ASL interpreter, told police a man "lured" her into the tent with an offer of food. While inside, he "started to hold her arms and touch her, kissing her face in the process," according to the report. She tried to sign, "Do not touch," but then he pulled her onto the bed while covering her mouth and telling her not to scream, got on top of her, grabbed her breast and buttocks, and tried to take off her clothes.

Perhaps she did not understand as the Mayor stated --- " it's the summer of love"

But, no problem, the city of Seattle is providing port-a-johns and service with maintenance and daily street cleaning. The city might want to offer free burial services.

I see where you are coming from, and it would be a great social experiment.
Living near Detroit I don't think our police would put up with any disorder. They used tear gas and pepper spray the first night the riot took place. Cheif Craig arrested 60 people only 4 lived in Michigan. We have had no further problems with the protests.

Detriot has become a really nice city due to some business spending lots of money. We have seen a great city to be born within the past ten years.  Detroiters would not put up with any form of zone such as CHOP.

But, I could see all of what you have said happen in any and all liberal cities. I can't see Republican cities put up with any form of liberal crazy zones. In fact, I think with all the anger apparent in our society, many of those on the right are saying bring it on...

Looks like the summer of love is over...

CNN, MSNBC primetime ignore Seattle’s plans to dismantle 'CHOP' zone after shootings

Seattle Mayor Jenny Durkan announced Monday that officials would end the police-free zone known as the "Capitol Hill Organized Protest," or "CHOP," after two recent shootings, one of which was deadly – but CNN and MSNBC didn’t feel it was particularly newsworthy.
