A  large group of House Republicans and one Democrat will send a letter to the Biden administration offering a warning that its pause on new oil and gas permits is having a negative impact on the existing operations.

GOP House members signing the letter so far include Steve Scalise of Lousiana, Dan Newhouse of Washington, Paul Gosar of Arizona, Doug Lamborn of Colorado, Don Young of Alaska, Matt Rosendale of Montana, Russ Fulcher of Idaho, August Pfluger of Texas, Pete Stauber of Minnesota, Blake Moore of Utah, Garret Graves of Louisiana, Kelly Armstrong of North Dakota, Ronny Jackson of Texas, Brian Babin of Texas, Lauren Boebert of Colorado, Tom Tiffany of Wisconsin, Jodey Arrington of Texas, Tracey Mann of Kansas, Markwayne Mullin of Oklahoma and Liz Cheney of Wyoming.

The lawmakers will tell acting Interior Secretary Scott de la Vega that local officials are unable to process approval for rights of way – which includes pipelines for take-away of associated gas production from producing oil wells and pipelines to transport oil to buyers.

“These suspensions on approving rights-of-way has caused growing problems for producers, as the lack of these right-of-way permits has threatened to totally shut down existing operations on existing federal leases with approved permits to drill and increased the possibility for multiple types of environmental hazards on federal lands, such as producers needing to flare associated gas production for lack of a gas take-away lines and a significant increase in truck hauling of produced oil and water for operations.

President Biden, in one of his first actions in office, made the decision to put a 60-day pause on the issuance of new permits and leases for drilling and fracking on federal lands.  Days later he signed an executive order suspending new oil and gas leasing in an effort to combat climate change. While campaigning he flip-flopped on the fracking issue several times. It well appears he will push ahead with shutting it down.

The American Petroleum Institute projects a drilling ban on federal lands and waters extended through 2030 would result in 1 million job losses by 2022 with the biggest impact being felt in the states of Texas, Wyoming, and New Mexico. Such a ban would also reduce U.S. gross domestic product by $700 billion and erase $9 billion of revenue, some of which is used to fund education and conservation programs.

What are your thoughts on Biden's agenda to stop Drilling and fracking?

Biden does not have a very good record to date when it comes to thinking through his wish list - the effects of undoing Trump's accomplishments is far less important than making a political statement by undoing them.

I can understand he hopes to bring in his own agenda, but my God some of his policies make no sense at this point. He has a sh-t storm at this point, it's like a landslide.

I looked for it but couldn't find where Biden suspended things such "that local officials are unable to process approval for rights of way "  for existing production - Source Please

      I did find this however:

" The order did not ban new drilling outright. It includes an exception "

Vega's order " follows Democratic President Joe Biden’s campaign pledge to halt new drilling on federal lands and end the leasing of publicly owned energy reserves as part of his plan to address climate change."

"The Interior Department order did not limit existing oil and gas operations under valid leases, meaning activity won’t come to a sudden halt on the millions of acres of lands in the West and offshore in the Gulf of Mexico where much drilling is concentrated. Its effect could be further blunted by companies that stockpiled enough drilling permits in Trump’s final months to allow them to keep pumping oil and gas for years."

What the API didn't tell you about is the millions of NEW jobs resulting from investment in clean energy and that it will increase GDP.

Biden never "flip-flopped" on fracking, he has been consistent in his message which is "During his press conference, Biden also doubled down, stating his opposition to a fracking ban."

        March 5, 2021, https://www.foxbusiness.com/markets/sev … gas-issues

"Biden created confusion about his stance with some of his comments during the Democratic primary. For example, he had this exchange with CNN's Dana Bash during a July 2019 debate:
Bash: "Thank you, Mr. Vice President. Just to clarify, would there be any place for fossil fuels, including coal and fracking, in a Biden administration?"
Biden: "No, we would -- we would work it out. We would make sure it's eliminated and no more subsidies for either one of those, either -- any fossil fuel."

He seemed to flip-flop on fracking.

Fox news reported what the people who wrote the letter said and not what was actually done.  When I searched for reports on the actual order, there was nothing about suspending "rights-of-way".  Obviously, I don't believe much of what Trump supporting Republicans say, they do not have a history of truth telling.

As to what Biden said to Bash (which I heard as well) let me start with - there is very little place for fossil fuels in the world of the future, the world will not survive with it.  Now that said, I am not one who thinks fossil fuels can be completely eliminated - ever; there are needs that only fossil fuel products can fill the need.

But, will we need 50 years in the future for most of vehicles that transport people and goods to use fossil fuels?  Save for airplanes, I think the answer is no.  In 30 years should we need coal or oil fired power plants?  No.

Are we always going to need the petroleum products in your cosmetics forever or in plastics?  Probably not, but that may be where they still need oil.

So is Biden rhetorically correct when he says he is going to eliminate it?  Yes, the world will effectively die if we keep it.

I don't trust You Tube as it is too easily manipulated.

In April Biden said "No, I would not shut down this [fracking] industry. I know our Republican friends are trying to say I said that. I said I would not do any new leases on federal lands."  And he says the same thing today.

Has Biden said he opposes fracking?  Yes he has, a lot of people oppose it because it is environmentally unsound and dangerous.  But is he going to eliminate it?  Not until we can seriously cut back on pulling oil and gas from the ground - decades away.

What you have outlined here is such a practical and necessary path to the future (in this subject), I don't see how it could be much criticized.
