"While the origins of COVID-19 have been a political hot button issue rife with controversy, new evidence has prompted a different question: did American taxpayers help fund the controversial Wuhan lab?

A group of 209 House Republicans sent a letter Friday to House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., demanding she allows an investigation into whether the Wuhan lab released COVID-19. Republicans on the House Judiciary and Oversight Committees also announced an investigation into the National Institutes of Health’s grant funding for the scandal-ridden Wuhan Institute of Virology."

"Rep. Kevin McCarthy (R-CA-23)  a day ago

Democrats have refused to even have a single hearing to hold the Chinese Communist Party accountable for its role in causing the global COVID-19 pandemic. Enough is enough.

Republicans wrote to Speaker Pelosi to demand an investigation into the origins of COVID-19."   https://www.congressfeed.com/member/Spe … akerPelosi

Were American Funds Used To Promote Gain Of Function Research?

"At issue is whether the National Institutes of Health funded research on bat coronaviruses that could have caused a pathogen to become more infectious to humans and, separately, if SARS-CoV-2 — the virus that causes the disease COVID-19 — transferred naturally from bats to humans, possibly through an intermediate host animal, or if a virus, a naturally occurring one or a lab-enhanced one, was accidentally released from the Wuhan lab.

There are a lot of unknowns, speculation and differences of opinion on these topics. But let’s start with what we do know: In 2014, the NIH awarded a grant to the U.S.-based EcoHealth Alliance to study the risk of the future emergence of coronaviruses from bats. In 2019, the project was renewed for another five years, but it was canceled in April 2020 — three months after the first case of the coronavirus was confirmed in the U.S.

EcoHealth ultimately received $3.7 million over six years from the NIH and distributed nearly $600,000 of that total to China’s Wuhan Institute of Virology, a collaborator on the project, pre-approved by NIH.

The grant cancellation came at a time when then-President Donald Trump and others questioned the U.S. funding to a lab in Wuhan while exaggerating the amount of federal money involved." Read more ---   https://www.factcheck.org/2021/05/the-w … agreement/

So any thoughts, should our Congress be investigating where the COVID Virus came from and actually was it man-made? Plus our own National Institutes of Health appears to have funded gain of function research, and In 2019, the project was renewed for another five years, but it was canceled in April 2020 — three months after the first case of the coronavirus was confirmed in the U.S. It would seem we need an investigation of why we were awarded grants to this form of research.

It would seem we need answers to very serious pressing dangerous concerns. It well appears we helped pay for the research that has killed over 3 million people. Is China still doing this form of research?  I for one think we need a very thorough investigation.

Whether the virus was created in Wuhan or not, whether China was complicit in it's release or not, I have real trouble understanding why ANY funding was provided to a lab outside the US.  Do we have no labs that do virus research?  Can we not pay Americans to find the answers we seek?  Do we have to provide research funds to overseas labs to do our scientific studies?

I think not.  It was never anything but another method of spreading American dollars all over the world.

We have many Labs here in the US that have conducted and was conducting Gain Of Function research for many years. All on grants... from NIH.  Here is an article that can help answer your question.

I can honestly say this is a can of worms that is about to hit the fan.

Thorugh the years we have had scientists be carless and be infected with several pathogens.  In June 2014, as many as 75 scientists at the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention were exposed to anthrax. Obama put the GOF research on hold.

It would appear Fauci saw a need for GOF research and was on board in 2017 to start supporting it once again.

I do feel we need to have a commotion look at not only China for the leak that caused the COVID 19 pandemic, but the problems that can occur with a gain of function. Do we really need to be doing this kind of research? It certainly could lead to more pandemics, maybe even worse than COVID.

I would hope this is a problem we could see bipartisan cooperation. These labs have records that can provide facts of what was and is being researched. If China will not cooperate it should be severely sanctioned by every nation in the world.
