Fox News is watched by more Democrats than CNN: Data finds 29% of all liberals watch the news station as it ends 2021 as the number one news channel
Fox hauled 29% of the liberal audience compared to 24% for CNN
MSNBC captured the majority of the liberals with a 46% share
62% of conservatives watched Fox, 24% for MSNBC, and just 14% for CNN
Fox outstripped the competition for a sixth year running despite controversy

More liberals watch Fox News than CNN, new data has found as the station ends 2021 as the number one news channel for the sixth year running.

Fox hauled 29 percent of the liberal audience compared to 24 percent for CNN, according to averages from April to August. MSNBC captured the majority of liberals with a 46 percent share.

A whopping 62 percent of the conservative audience was held by Fox, compared to 24 percent for MSNBC and just 14 percent for CNN, according to data from Nielson/MRI Fusion.

Despite recent resignations by commentators in protest at 'conspiracy theories', Fox continues to cut through to a broad section of American society.

In contrast, CNN - which recently axed its top host Chris Cuomo - has seen the biggest audience decline in a year that saw news networks hemorrhage viewers following the 'Trump bump' and 2020 election.

In recent weeks the network suffered a further meltdown after it emerged one of its top producers - who worked with Cuomo - is facing child sex trafficking charges.

I don't have a particular favorite, but I do have one that I stay away from and that is FOX.

I don't get cable network programming because I see no benefits when considering the cost. As far as cable political shows and such I don't get what the hoopla is about it. There are 258 million adults and 88% of them watch TV during prime time hours. All the political shows combined are what 10 - 12 million viewers? Take a peek at the link below to see what people watch.

This is a problem: An NPR/Ipsos poll released this week showed that a majority — 54% — whose primary source of news is Fox News or conservative media believe falsely that there was major voting fraud in the 2020 election.
A recent study from the Kaiser Family Foundation found that Fox News viewers are more likely to believe covid-19 falsehoods than people who consumer other mainstream news sources. And yet, Fox News itself has a covid-19 vaccine mandate, despite personalities on the channel railing against them.
It seems that Fox has spread more dangerous misinformation then most other news networks.
I stick with podcasts, mostly NPR. Their is just more journalistic integrity because they employ actual journalists rsther than actors hired to deliver a script.  Also definitely a wider range of stories covered. Cable news reruns the same three stories all day.

I tend to like to get my news via online articles. However, as of late, I like Fox reporting during daytime hours.  Nighttime brings out the monsters...  I find all three networks really harmful.

I do not get cable news at my household.  I like Yahoo as it brings in articles from all across the spectrum that I get to evaluate.  I did block Fox News from my Yahoo feed though, knowing the stats that Faye quoted above.  And I'll surf YouTube for the opinion side of things, and prefer Brian Tyler Cohen's take on things as he has just the right amount of disdain.

Why do so many choose Fox News?

Stupidity.  They openly state they are not a news service, but an entertainment channel.  So dumb people like being entertained with lies, apparently.

I read cable news stories, but I also read many other types of source's news.

This is an interesting question.  Because of my work, I use something known as news aggregator.  This is a program that enables you to put in a subject and it will search the web for all of the stories associated with a particular topic.

I mention this because it provides a way to see news trends.  You can tell what stories are being covered by the majority of the media and which ones are not.

It is an eye-opening experience to use it.

Just curious, how is that more comprehensive than a "Google Search"?

It is much more comprehensive than a Google Search.  You can focus on specific types of media such as cable, television news etc. and cross reference them with a topic.  You will know how many stories have been done on specific topics.  You can then cross reference this with conservative news sites with liberal news sites.  You can take a topic and look at it in many different ways.  I like it because it provides you with numbers and specific search results quickly that Google can't.

So, there are various news aggregator programs out there if you're interested.  Some are cheap and some are quite expensive.

Thanks for the tip, Mike. I will have to look into it.
