I thought that the big push about overturning Roe vs Wade was to give the right to control this issue to the states.

Well, now, Mitch McConnell, this treacherous old Crow as Senate Minority Leader, seems to want to take this further. It is now not about state autonomy, but more explicitly about control of women's bodies from coast to coast.
With all the double dealing from this man over the last few years, he has convinced our 2 DINOs not to chuck the filibuster to get Biden's agenda passed, the man the nation voted for by the way.
Do you really think that if the GOP gets the majority and they have the opportunity to enslave the entire country to their agenda that they would not take it?
McConnell will dispense with all the tradition talk of his about the efficacy of filibuster and drop it like a hot potato to get this "big do" on the GOP wish list.
He will do it in a heartbeat and remember that you heard it here first...
But again, Republicans can break the rules, but that is always "different".
Different? Nope, it's the same thing. The leaders of the Republican party are going to screw up any possibility of gains among reasonable folks.
I am only going by your comment, I haven't thought about the statement. If the context is as presented, I would gladly offer a few negative adjectives to shore up my credentials as an equal opportunity contrarian.
Either way, there's nothing different about what he is doing. I even agree with your filibuster thought. Maybe Schumer and McConnel came from the same place and are just playing their parts?

My thought is No, they should go ahead and filibuster Judge Gorsuch now and not wait. The fear of filibustering now is that the Rs might use the "Nuclear Option" - using a simple majority to change Senate rules to eliminate filibustering for Supreme Court nominees; just as Democrats...

Yes, it is a Salon article, but it reflects my opinion 100 percent. At this juncture, the Republicans and the Right are to get NOTHING. No peace in our time.https://www.salon.com/2021/01/22/mcconn … ull-swing/1. Barack Obama had hardly taken his oath of office on January 20th 2009, before...

Democrats have the votes to raise the debt ceiling with a straight up and down vote. The GOP chose to filibuster the ability to raise it. This is not about future spending, this is about paying for the debts already incurred, including the $7.8 trillion added while they had control of...

In Biden's first address to Congress, he certainly laid out a very aggressive, not to mention expensive agenda. From the New green deal to a huge infrastructure spending proposal. His speech weighed heavily on promises of all kinds of goodies. The Democrat's work has just begun. At this...

If the leaked Supreme Court Decision on Roe v Wade becomes reality, then it won't be a Woman's Right to Choose and control her own body that goes by the way-side in Conservative States - it is any previous ruling that is based on the Right to Privacy which will vanish as well. That is what these...

Liberal pundits and celebrities tweeted against Sen. Joe Manchin, D-W.Va., on Wednesday, after saying he’d vote against his party’s abortion bill. The moderate Democrat told reporters he would oppose The Women’s Health Protection Act when it came to a procedural vote, saying it doesn’t codify Roe,...
