Playing around and voting this morning for a new sheriff I got to wondering about crime and how well my police department and sheriff are doing. I discovered two interesting sites. I learned for my zip code what the crime ratings are. Not only that but what part of the zip code was worse. How about your zip code? For me:
Overall Crime D+
Violent Crime C
Property Crime C-
Other Crime D-
And, a crime occurs every three hours and thirty minutes as well as I live in the west side, which is the high crime side. Looks like I should think about moving or get a Rottweiler.

Note: Easy to do just input your zip code
But, hey, shouldn't Johnny Law be taking care of that stuff for me? Let's find out how they are doing. The next site rates police/sheriff departments. For me being a city police department it has a rating of 58%. "Cities with higher scores spend less on policing, use less force, are more likely to hold officers accountable and make fewer arrests for low-level offenses." There is a plethora of information to review
Police ScoreCard by PoliceScoreCard.org
https://policescorecard.org/
Note: Works best with a mouse. Just click the magnifying glass at top right and type your city/county into the search bar. A map of your state appears with a number in a circle. Click it and a pop-up appears with the location highlighted. Click it and the data appears.
On a tablet I could not get the search feature to work. So, I aimed where I lived. It was difficult to find my location. So, I clicked what showed up, clicked the number in the circle that showed up, and then the pop-up with the cities appeared. Then I scrolled to my city and selected it. Beware using fingers it may select when you don't want to.
I can’t make a direct comparison to yours because a different system is used in the UK. But, below are some stats for where I live:-
Given that in the UK the crime rates in cities are far higher than in towns or villages; in 2021, Bristol (where I live) was the third safest city, and the 757th most dangerous location of all towns, cities and villages.
In 2021 the overall crime rate was 111.18 crimes per 1,000 population:
• For example, in the month of December 2021 - 85 bicycles were stolen; there were 250 burglaries and 422 incidences of criminal damage and arson.
• The most common crimes in Bristol are violence and sexual offences, with 20,567 offences during 2021 - giving Bristol a crime rate of 36.
• Bristol least common crimes are possession of weapons e.g. knives etc., with 335 offences recorded in 2021.
Trying to put the above stats into perspective; the population of Bristol is over 467,000. Also, obviously in Britain we don’t have gun violence, and outside of London knife crime is low, so in Bristol (and in the vast majority of Britain) you do feel safe walking the streets of Bristol at night.

My dad and I have debated this several times, and he feels the purge can actually happen in real life, as he cites how our government passes laws all the time without us knowing it. I tend to disagree because even if they pass certain crap through congress without our knowledge of it, I think...

I just finished writing a hub on this topic and I am wondering if people out there think that we will be able to come to a consensus on a common sense approach to immigration or is this topic just too emotional for serious rational discussion? Thought?
