Right of A Pedestrian? Who was wrong?

   Yesterday Night, I almost got hit by a car while I was crossing the pedestrian. I know I should have look left and right to see if there was a car coming through. And true enough there was a car driving fast that was just an inch a way from me. The driver crossed the pedestrian line by a bit while I was already crossing it with a mother. Just a few more steps away, the mother shouted "ate!!!" calling my attention.
   
   Shouldn't you stop right away all cars if you see someone crossing the pedestrian already?No matter where you are coming from.
   
   When we were crossing it, I made sure to stop all cars coming thru, and its clear and safe to walk. But I guess, since I was having overfatigue I didn't notice a car was fast approaching from my left that was bound north.
   
   Still, shouldn't you slow down your speed if you are approaching the pedestrian and stop before you cross the line?

   Thank God for the protection. God is still great with me. Thank God I was still able to make it home safely. I'll be careful from now on.

   Gianella, I am glad neither you or the mother were hit by the car. All vehicles are supposed to stop and give pedestrians right of way when they are approaching or crossing the road at a ‘pedestrian crossing.’
   Although you should still be careful and look left and right before doing so, the driver was in the wrong. It doesn’t matter where he was coming from he should have stopped.

   I’m very glad that you and your mother are safe. The driver in the situation that you’ve described was wrong, as John said, but I’ve learned to be careful as a pedestrian even if I have right of way. Some drivers that I’ve encountered while I have been walking don’t follow the rules or try to pass quickly before they are forced to stop for a pedestrian.
