Now that Republicans are set to take the majority of the House, I think it is safe to say that the Democrats are becoming fearful about all the investigations Republicans have threatened to proceed with if they won the majority. It would appear Republicans could move ahead with revving up all kinds of investigations, not to mention impeaching Biden.

However, here is a thought,  what if our new Republican House moves forward with solving problems, instead of investigations?    Such as keeping all the promises they made in the    "Commitment To America ".  If we took the high road, would it not show we are more serious about fixing things, and making America great again for all?  The Democrats have spent many years providing one investigation after another, do we follow their path, or take the high road?

I do think Biden and Hunter must be investigated, just because Joe could be compromising the country with pay-to-play scams.   But do we need all the rest of the many investigations that some Republicans are talking about presently?

We as Republicans have been given a great opportunity to work on solutions and make America a better place.  Yes, we will have uphill climbs in the Senate, but would it not be better to move on, and hopefully see our representatives keep all the promises in their "Commitment To America"?

In my view, many Americans are looking to right the ship, not sink it due to bitterness.
So, what do you think? Should we take the high road or get in the mud?

Do you HOPE the new House majority will work on current problems or dive into investigations?

I don't give a rats you know what about investigations. I'm expecting legislation that is meaningful to be put forward on day one that addresses inflation and the economy. And it better not involve a tax break for the top 1%.  I'm expecting the same standards that President Biden has been held to, to be applied to a republican majority and that is immediate action. Republicans will have the very same short leash. I don't want to hear about nonsense culture crap. I don't want to see a nationwide abortion ban. I don't want to hear a peep about transgender babies or banning books or limiting the teaching of History because it hurts kids feelings. And when my milk is $5 a gallon don't talk to me about a rainbow flag. I just don't care. Let's see some instantaneous action on the issues they've been railing about for the past 2 years. It's in their hands to fix it immediately. No excuses, no delays.  They have a lot of policy to put together quickly if they do take a majority because their commitment to America is extremely thin on detail.

Oh yeah, it was the DEMONcrats who caused the inflation by their inane policies e.g. having droves of illegals housed on taxpayer's dime, stupid green policies, discontinuing the pipeline which meant loss of jobs-need I say more.   Maybe the Republicans could clean up the mess that the Democratic Party in its delusion created.

Clean it up then, spare me your meaningless culture issues. Let's see action. No excuses. And I mean quick.

"I'm expecting the same standards that President Biden has been held to"

Nobody held Biden responsible for fixing the world on his first day in office.  Why would you make such an unreasonable, impossible demand of Congress?

Gosh, Biden walked in on day one with a wrecking ball, and some citizens still do not hold him responsible after two years.

The country's problems were assigned to President Biden day one and he was criticized from day one. He was blamed for absolutely everything from day one and yes I am holding Republicans to the same standard.  No excuses, just take action. Put your plans into place and let's go. Or else, you know what? You will be blamed for absolutely everything that goes poorly. We the people need to start holding these politicians accountable for doing things that actually matter. We have to stop listening to the nonsense they keep trying to feed us about issues that are meaningless. Doesn't matter what party it comes from.

No. I love action. Not just a bunch of complaining and meaningless culture crap. I like President Biden's infrastructure bill and his inflation reduction act. If your party believes you can build on that in a meaningful way then let's see it. Culture crap doesn't pay my bills. Don't bring me gripes about rainbow flags and teaching actual history and transgender babies and banning to kill a mockingbird in the classroom. That's all nonsense I don't care about and I can tell you my neighbors out here don't care about either. Don't try to bring me a nationwide abortion ban either. I also don't care about muzzling corporations, their speech or their morality.  If that's kool aid then pour me another glass

I am hopeful that the new Congress will be off and running with good speed, and working on the current problems that are in their Commitment to America.  Number one for me is the economy, energy, and the border. I also well hope they keep the Trump taxes in place for now and do not want to see any tax breaks for the top 1%.

In regard to being on a leash, I would think you most likely are right. However, hopefully, we get the majority in the Senate, although it will be minute, Republicans may push through bills without too much trouble.

If they don't live up to their promises, I don't want to hear
excuses either.  Hey, this is what's good about a Democracy, we can vote representatives out, and continue to work for improvement.

Since the congress does not have that abusive practice of making executive orders, they are not going to be able to overturn Bidens mistakes and fix things on day one. If they could, they would overturn this list of stupid things he did on his first day:

Republicans have a plan to address all the issues they've complained about over the last two years. We will see how well they execute that plan or if they fall back on excuses. I don't want excuses, I want to see action.  They aren't really a cohesive party anymore so I have my doubts. Especially with Mr Trump's continued sabotage. I'm not sure they'll be able to survive his influence.

If you do not want excuses you can elect a Republican in the exective and administrative branches of government. If they are divided there is no way they can change things. They can pass a change, Biden will veto it. Biden will propose a new law, the Republicans will not pass it.

What makes you think that the Republicans are going to do anything but stop anything that Biden wants to do?

Like I said, no excuses. Put forward plans to address issues that are important to the American people. It's really very simple.  I don't want to hear about division and there's no way to change things. Find a way or be voted out. Find a compromise or be voted out.  Time to stop complaining and belly aching and actually do something. If they actually gain control, this is what America expects and it better happen instantaneously. There's not much patience out here anymore.

Yet, that majority may be so slim, that the House Republicans may have their own versions on Manchin and Synema (sp.) on their hands.

I, as you know, don't see any handing of power to Republicans as an improvement.

Yes, the majority will be slim, and we have some that are certainly very conservative, and I think you are right we could see pushback from our own. I could think and name several.

I think power change is good, and this midterm really speaks loudly, and once again indicates no movement in any form of healing in the Nation. the great divide is very evident.

So, we will most likely struggle with the tug of war, and nothing much will get done. Although, I feel we did see our Democracy work well, with a record number of people coming out to vote.

I am going to have faith that the Republicans keep the promises they have made. But will keep a close eye on them.

Good, now maturity & common sense will reign supreme.  About time I say.

      Highly unlikely.

Vaccine Mandates - in some states those who refused lost their jobs.
Lockdowns - in some states those who balked were arrested.
Inflation - the likes of which we have not seen in 40 years.

This, in addition to transgender norming in society, equity being pushed over equality, and a President that stumbles and bumbles about.

If there was ever going to be a "Red Wave" this would have been it.

      There wasn't one.

Common Sense and Maturity have been lost in many parts of the Nation.

There are a few States where Common Sense, Maturity, Sanity and Civil decency will remain solid for another decade or so, they are the States that people have retreated to from places like NY and CA.

The rest of the country is lost.  Hopeless. In the process of social, moral and civil decay from which there will be no return.  We are in the midst of the American decline we just cannot see it clearly because we are living through it.

From the outside, to other nations, it is more obvious.  Even the leaders of the EU are awakening to the fact that they have tied themselves to a partner that is willing to sacrifice their wellbeing for their own goals.

The price the people of the EU are going to pay for supporting America's aggressions in Ukraine are going to rock the fabric of many EU nations. There will certainly be riots and revolts this winter throughout the EU.

The months ahead are going to be interesting to watch unfold.

I am thankful I reside in Florida where we have excellent State leadership which will deflect much of the idiocy emanating from DC and where we do not have need for oil or gas to warm our home.
