For me, it was my opinion of President Jimmy Carter. While I still admire him for his character and the way he has spent his productive post-presidency years, I've learned moving through adulthood that being governor at the state level does not prepare most people to be president at the federal level.
While I did not care for the politics and ideological foundation of Ronald Reagan, I did not find him to be particularly unqualified for the office of President, even though he, himself, was once Governor of California.
I believe that it is one of those jobs that one cannot really prepare for....
My opinion of former Governor Clinton was similar. He was incredibly intelligent and well-educated - a trait I think is necessary in any leader. His flaw was not being a better husband. I never could decide if that should be a qualifier for president - so many of them suffered the same flaw.
"His flaw was not being a better husband. I never could decide if that should be a qualifier for president - so many of them suffered the same flaw."
If that were the standard then half the men we elected to the office would probably not qualify.
I liked Bill Clinton and his presidency during the go-go Nineties.
I am content to judge them on job performance always expecting some internecine issues with any one of them particularly as the families are always in the limelight.
I voted for Obama the first time, and by the second time, I was so very disappointed in his job performance, I changed my mind and voted for Mitt Romney. A very hold-my-nose moment. However, in Obama's last months, he picked up a bit of steam, I felt he always flew below the radar.
With Trump!
I attended a Cruz rally, had the signs, the buttons, the gear...and I was all about getting Ted Cruz elected!
Thought it was way past time for a Conservative President and believed that it was his time!
Then Trump seemed to come out of nowhere, stealing his and everyone else's...thunder.
I was initially resentful of and not a fan of, Donald Trump.
But that changed almost as soon as he got into office and got to work draining the swamp and keeping his promises to the American people.
I've altered my opinion about more than one elected official once they took office. In my reporting days there were only a few legislators who didn't either surprise or disappoint me eventually.
We all have surprising stripes don't we? You voted for a democrat. I once was press secretary for a republican candidate. Who knew?!
Since I'm not seeing many 'issues' and mostly 'candidates,' I'll go a different route. The remain in Mexico policy wasn't one from my party, but it makes sense for many different reasons.
The question was open to any interpretation. Thanks for playing.

Has anyone ever changed your mind about a political issue by something they have said?I have begun to keep quiet during most political discussions. I truly don't think we ever change each other's minds and often friendships are destroyed for no reason. If someone becomes too nasty with...

To some degree, we writers probably all want to change someone else's mind about something, to some degree: politics, religion, social issues, products, how-to's, and many other matters. Even entertainment may turn out to be a mood-changer, if not precisely a mind-changer.So, which writers have you...

I’m curious to know what the ‘breaking point’ was for people who have switched Parties in their lifetime -from either side. I’ve always been on one side, but I read about people who’ve said they ‘seen the Iight’ and switched (no pun there, ha ha)
