For some, of importance, this is the third position Trump named a woman to. Balance? Also, speculatively with the appointments thus far could be Trump has aim on day one to begin the great deportation operation as promised. The team is being assembled in the key positions.

    Thoughts, criticisms, accolades, and/or commentary?

It's too early for me to form any pro or con opinions, but this Trump presidency is looking very different from the 2016 one. I'm optimistic.

I especially like the female picks—not because of their specifics but because I think putting intelligent women in primary positions is a good thing. And the message that picking them sends is also a good thing.

Homeland security? I don't know, how did her qualifications meet the position?  I mean she did shoot her puppy..

          What qualifications does she need?

Hold on now, that's a serious question. I don't know much about her, so it's not a partisan question.

For instance; what's the most important qualification? I would say it is leadership capability. Without that, even the most in-depth knowledge of the subject won't get the job done.

Next, an understanding of the task? Such as the details of the problem, and the details of the department's abilities and authorities.

Those would be my top 3 required qualifications; leadership ability,  knowledge and understanding of the 'problem,' and knowledge and understanding of the department and its limits.

Does she have these? I dunno yet, but being a governor is a good sign to me. Being a woman governor in our (current) 'man's world' of politics also goes to her credit.

I like her... feisty and intelligent...

I suppose that goes without saying...

Being feisty and stupid is rather the opposite of being likable...

I guess that would make you annoying and aggressive... a real dunderhead.

Well she is running an entire state, and doing it pretty flawlessly.

The puppy was more of a threat to chickens than Haitians... handling a threat > securing the homeland. Just sayin'!

In all seriousness Willow, aren't  you all about women power?!
This is an exciting time for women.

These nominations are a reward for loyalty.  Are there women who are more qualified for the homeland security position? Absolutely, no doubt about it.  Noem sealed the deal for hanging in there, pretending it was normal,  when Trump decided to awkwardly sway to music for almost 40 minutes instead of taking questions.

And no, sorry it's a gross person with  no sense of decency who decides to shoot an animal rather than surrender it to an organization that could have placed it in a home...

Tha night of swaying and listening  to music was due to one medical issue in the crowd after the other. If Trump had continued  speaking, he would have been called insensitive  and selfish the next day.
As for Noem, she made a judgment call, felt it needed to be done, and she took care of business. Ranching, farming, isn't your typical 9-5 job.

I am hoping Tulsi Gabbard will be our next Secretary of Defense.  Just noted John Ratcliffe has been appointed CIA director.  I can't keep up! He is certainly building a powerhouse team...   He is running straight out of the gate.  I like what I see.

      Pull put the champagne!

I'm thrilled by the choices Trump is making that align with his ideology and the MAGA agenda. He clearly understands the importance of surrounding himself with strong advocates for his vision, and I couldn’t be happier. Seeing him choose another woman intelligent and hard-working for a significant role, especially given the past criticisms like Mark Cuban's claim about a lack of intelligent women in his circle, makes this even more satisfying. Yeah, it does... I have great respect for this MAGA team and full confidence that they’ll carry out the work Trump assigns them.

Trump’s selection of South Dakota Gov. Kristi Noem as the new Department of Homeland Security secretary is, in my opinion, a fantastic move. Noem is a strong leader, and the addition of immigration hardliners like Stephen Miller and Tom Homan to senior roles signals that Trump is serious about fulfilling his immigration promises. With Noem at the helm, Trump is ensuring that a loyal and capable ally leads an agency at the heart of his domestic agenda. I couldn’t be more pleased to see this kind of commitment to his vision.

I’m eagerly waiting to see what Trump offers Tulsi. His team so far has impressed me greatly. It’s clear that he isn’t choosing women just for the sake of balance; he’s selecting individuals he respects and believes are best suited for the job. Unlike Biden’s approach, which emphasized gender, race, far-left ideologies, or gender affirmation, for balance, Trump doesn’t play that game. He’s focused on keeping his promises and surrounding himself with like-minded individuals to achieve his goals. Thus far it looks to me that his picks have been merit based.

So criticism of Biden for appointing people that aligned with his so-called "ideologies" but Trump is praised for doing the same?

In my opinion, Biden did make his choices to provide balance, and I don't believe he gave much thought to whether his appointees were capable of doing their jobs. That’s just how I see it. I acknowledge my bias, as I have little respect for Biden or his administration. I believe they failed us badly.

It appears that Trump is picking his leadership early, selecting individuals who can hit the ground running on day one. There has been no downtime from election day to today, the work continues.

    Interesting fact...

Noem is banned from all tribal lands in her state.

      Another interesting fact . . .

From your link, the ban is a political one, a resolution over politics and governing differences. That doesn't seem like the indictment inferred by your description.

Politics probably had a lot to do with their timing—as in the day after the appointment announcement.

This doesn't look like a real issue with her character or a direct action. It looks political. I think it's a whiff.

Mark Cuban told us Trump was afraid of strong women and would never put them in a position of power...

Hasn't Trump already appointed several women to positions of power?

Doesn't he hate women or something?

    I'm confused...
