But who won? Are the polls a good indicator of what people are feeling, or are they just skewed by pollsters with a quest? And do "We The People' believe the polls anymore?  Does reality not tell us that we are being had?

Lately, many media outlets have claimed that Donald Trump's poll numbers are "plummeting." However, if you take a look at his polling history over the last decade, the data tells a different story. Trump’s approval ratings have consistently hovered between 40% and 45%, and even with a recent CBS poll showing him at 45%, that number is actually on the higher end of his typical range. Yet, this figure is being portrayed as a significant decline. This framing becomes even more questionable when you consider that Trump won the presidency in 2016 with an approval rating lower than that, around 44.3%, compared to Hillary Clinton's 46.8%.

When Trump won the 2024 election, his approval rating was a "historic" 47% (weeee), a number many would find impressive when compared to his previous polls. It begs the question: Is the media shaping public perception more than reflecting reality? The language in the headlines seems exaggerated when compared to the data, and it's worth considering why such a discrepancy exists. While these headlines might serve as food for thought for those who loathe Trump, is it really healthy to buy into misleading narratives? Yes, the media reports on current polls, but do they take into account the full context of past variables?

Did I miss something? Has Trump ever had what could be called a high approval rating, or has this consistent range been the norm all along?

      Shar,

I think that President Donald Trump is doing well considering the main stream media has given him 92% negative coverage during his first 100 days in office.  That is unprecedented.  Yet, he keeps his cool, remains focused and doesn't let it bother him.  I think that is incredible.

Media Research Center finds 92% negative coverage of Trump in first 100 days

A recent analysis by the Media Research Center has revealed that 92% of the major network media coverage of President Donald Trump during his first 100 days in office was negative.

The study examined 1,841 statements made by journalists, anchors, reporters, and experts on ABC, CBS, and NBC, dismissing any non-partisan guests.

The report, which analyzed 899 stories aired during evening news broadcasts from January 20 to April 9, highlighted that 1,692 of the statements were negative.

Major topics included tariffs, which received 361 minutes of coverage, followed by the Department of Government Efficiency with 310 minutes, and illegal immigration at 233 minutes.

In each case, the networks reportedly showcased opposition to Trump's positions and policies.

The report also noted a stark contrast in media coverage between the Trump and Biden presidencies, with coverage of President Joe Biden being 59% positive.

I completely agree with your point! President Trump’s ability to maintain focus and composure amidst such overwhelming negative media coverage is indeed remarkable. It takes a lot of mental fortitude to navigate such intense criticism, especially when it’s as one-sided as the Media Research Center report suggests.

The media's portrayal of his first 100 days certainly didn’t provide a balanced view, focusing mainly on controversies and policy oppositions. It’s interesting, though, to consider how this coverage may have influenced public perception. While negative press can create a hostile environment, it also strengthens the resolve of his base, which tends to view him as someone who is unafraid to challenge the establishment.

Additionally, despite the heavy criticism, Trump's ability to stay consistent with his key issues, like tariffs, illegal immigration, and government efficiency, shows that he remains dedicated to his agenda. His stance on these topics was clear from the beginning, and even when facing opposition, he didn't waver, which is a testament to his resilience and commitment to his vision for America.

It’s definitely not an easy task to stay positive when faced with such constant backlash, but Trump’s ability to keep pushing forward without being derailed by it shows a certain strength of character. In my view, he's also working on groundshaking change. I mean, who would have thought we would have the rights to mine rare minerals in Ukraine? That man thinks way outside the box. I can't believe no other politician came up with the idea—"Hey, we need rare minerals, let’s make a deal with Ukraine." It really makes you stop and think. That was pretty damn smart, and it’s going to be so important for the U.S. to not rely on China for all of our electronics, chips, you name it. I think he’ll show them all!
