Anti-ICE riots reveal the left has learned nothing

It's almost as if the left has comprehension that immigration enforcement is something that apply to ALL states.  They don't get to choose which federal law they want to follow.

The left is just plain clueless when it comes to being part of the United States.

"Anti-ICE riots reveal the left has learned nothing. It's just handed Trump a gift
Doesn't the left understand that rioters waving Mexican flags and setting streets ablaze create an unsympathetic image for Democrats?

Over the weekend, news of federal enforcement agencies conducting immigration raids sparked massive protests in Los Angeles. The city’s mayor, Karen Bass, had denounced the enforcement campaign on X last Friday, accusing the Trump administration of sowing terror and defiantly stating, "We will not stand for this." Also fanning the flames was California’s governor, Gavin Newsom, who claimed that the raids were "tearing families apart" and called the immigration arrests "chaotic," "reckless," and "cruel."

Progressive groups’ denunciations of the raids were even harsher. The ACLU called the enforcement plan an "oppressive and vile paramilitary operation," while a spokesperson for the National Day Laborer Organizing Network referred to the arrests as kidnappings.

As word of the campaign spread, the protests quickly devolved into riots. Social media feeds were soon filled with scenes reminiscent of the violent unrest of summer 2020: looting, crowds surrounding burning vehicles, rocks thrown at law-enforcement cars, American flags set aflame, and the 101 freeway shut down.

Such violence should have drawn swift and widespread condemnation from both left and right. Instead, prominent Democrats have largely remained silent on the mayhem, reserving their outrage for President Donald Trump’s decision to deploy the National Guard to restore order—a move that sparked yet another round of denunciations from the usual suspects.

Even some of the president’s critics who have called for an end to the violence seem motivated less by the belief that property destruction and assaults on police are wrong, and more by concerns that such unrest could bolster support for immigration enforcement or damage Democrats politically.

Appalling as the Left’s response to the riots has been, it is not surprising. The unrest only reinforces a connection many Americans have already made between progressive causes and the violence too often carried out in their name.

If the Left wants to shed its reputation for siding with arsonists who block city streets, seize campus quads, and attack police, its leaders could start by condemning the lawlessness in Los Angeles and pledging to work with the president to restore order. Their refusal to do so lies at the heart of Donald Trump’s political strength—and remains a vivid sign of a lesson still unlearned.

Donald Trump Scores Major Polling Win Over Democrats

President Donald Trump has notched a significant victory over Democrats, with polling showing him outperforming his rivals on one of the most contentious issues: immigration.

On the broader question of trust, Republicans now lead Democrats on immigration by 6 points in CBS and CNN polling and 19 in the latest Ipsos survey.

    Why It Matters
It comes after Trump sent 4,000 National Guardsmen and 700 Marines to Los Angeles in response to reported violence against law enforcement, specifically ICE agents carrying out deportation raids in the city.

The action in Los Angeles is part of the Trump administration's pledge to carry out the largest mass deportation in U.S. history, which has seen ICE raids conducted around the country, some of which have swept up people with proper documentation.

I think the biggest concern everyone is expressing within these riots is that there is no middle ground within our leadership, and it pits us all against one another. Even California leadership has chosen political attacks and character smears over actually doing something about the problem, while increasing arrests for American citizens protesting. It's a war on the American people lead by the elites as far as I'm concerned:

      Conservatives / Republicans

73% say illegal immigration is a “very big problem” in the U.S.

86% support stricter border enforcement and deportation-focused policies.

53% oppose offering a path to citizenship for undocumented immigrants.

      Liberals / Democrats

19% say illegal immigration is a “very big problem.”

71% support creating a path to citizenship for undocumented immigrants.

22% support increased border enforcement as a top priority.

Extreme polarization, and the actions of the common man are showing that it's time for real, efficient solutions. I say we start with our domestic information dissemination policies, and stop letting politicians grandstand on hateful narratives. They're like children bullying one another on the jungle gym at recess.

California and New York are living examples of what is to come in the next decade, and it's going to get worse before there's a chance of it getting better.

"71% support creating a path to citizenship for undocumented immigrants."

This stat makes no sense to me.  There IS a path to citizenship for illegal immigrants, it's called following immigration law.  I've had relatives and friends who came here and become citizens.  I was with them during the entire process.

"California and New York are living examples of what is to come in the next decade, and it's going to get worse before there's a chance of it getting better."

I don't agree.  This won't happen if we're able to deport the millions of illegal aliens let in under the biden administration.

The problem we have in this country is that Republicans are for the rule of law and the democrats believe they only have to obey the laws they like.

The democrats forget about the millions of people deported under obama.  There were millions deported under clinton.

Why weren't democrats outraged then?  Their hypocrisy and double standards is overwhelming at time.

Liberal outrage over immigration enforcement increased after Bill Clinton’s presidency because enforcement policies—such as mass deportations, detention expansion, and border militarization—intensified under subsequent administrations, especially post-9/11. These measures were seen as disproportionately targeting marginalized communities and contradicting humanitarian values, prompting backlash from liberal and progressive groups.

After 9/11, the U.S. implemented several immigration enforcement policies that intensified:

-Creation of DHS (2002) – Consolidated immigration under the Department of Homeland Security, emphasizing national security.

-ICE Formation (2003) – U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement was created to enforce interior immigration laws.

-Secure Communities (2008) – Local law enforcement shared fingerprint data with ICE to flag undocumented immigrants.

-USA PATRIOT Act (2001) – Expanded surveillance and detention authority, especially for non-citizens suspected of terrorism.

-NSEERS Program (2002–2011) – Required registration of male nationals from specific Muslim-majority countries.

These policies increased surveillance, detentions, and deportations, sparking liberal criticism.

All of these things were intensified/instituted within the last thirty years. It's a rule of thumb that all major laws and institutions take thirty years to be implemented as fundamental. Problem is, no administration except this current one was so publicly exposed, we have never seen the political and social assassination, true or otherwise, at this level before.

In no way do I support the liberals in their endeavors for whatever motivates mass illegal immigration, but I can see why they get so upset. In some cases their ire is rightful, and the problem of checks and balances is the real concern on all sides.

Though I find it to be a marginal example, we are deporting American citizens by accident. I think that's a bipartisan issue that should enrage all sides of the debate.

As for whether or not anyone agrees with things escalating like we see in California and New York, we saw the, "fiery, but not necessarily unruly," fentanyl fraudster George Floyd riots go international. I'd argue this current set of issues is far more pressing and valid than those we saw during those protests.

So are you stating that people who have been here for many years and have been working, paying taxes, own homes and are contributing members to our society with no criminal record should be deported?  I mean these people are very hard to replace in certain industries.

Are YOU saying that people that have lived illegally, violating federal, state and local laws for those years, should NOT be sent home?  That they should NOT be any consequences for years of illegal behavior?

Americans that commit crimes have consequences; "do the crime, do the time".  Why not those inhabiting our country illegally?  The ones driving without license or insurance?  The ones working a job illegally?  The ones stealing identities to give a valid SS# that just happens not to be theirs?  The ones on welfare illegally?

Is saying that they are hard to replace in the workplace a reason to hand out "get out of jail free cards" and give a "bye" on the consequences of criminal activity?

That would be Trump who is saying it...

"People who’ve been here for 20-25 years and worked great and the owner of the farm loves them and you're supposed to throw them out? We can't do that to our farmers and leisure, too, hotels. We’ll have to use common sense on that.”

Our great Farmers & people in the Hotel & Leisure business have been stating that our very aggressive policy on immigration is taking very good, long time workers away from them, with those jobs being almost impossible to replace,” Trump wrote...

So Trump will be carving out sections of people who are here illegally but  can stay LOL ...

Looks like a lot of magas are going to have to change up their positions on immigration huh?  Maga has been absolutely railing to get every single undocumented person out of this country but now they'll have to say that keeping many of them is a great idea.

By the time this is over I think he will probably extend the order to undocumented people working in the food industry as well as construction.  heck it'll probably just be extended to all undocumented folks!

Then you are happy deporting all those that are violating the laws of America?  Or is this post just your way of avoiding an answer?

I'll agree with Trump on letting those stay who have jobs and are contributing, productive members of their communities.  Those who are doing the jobs that would otherwise go unfilled.  Many of us have said that all along.    People who have criminal records, they can go...

"Are YOU saying that people that have lived illegally, violating federal, state and local laws for those years, should NOT be sent home?  That they should NOT be any consequences for years of illegal behavior?"

well, looks like many will get to stay and there will be no consequences. I guess he's letting them off the hook for violating those laws LOL

Could you even begin to imagine if Biden would have suggested something such as this?

Trump has demonstrated that he is actively working to fulfill his promises—not only on immigration but also by enforcing our laws, respecting law enforcement, and keeping our nation safe from violence in our streets.

Mike,   I completely agree with your assessment. The left’s selective approach to immigration enforcement shows a fundamental misunderstanding, or refusal to accept, that federal laws apply uniformly across all states. This isn’t a matter of preference or convenience; it’s about respecting the rule of law that binds the entire country. Their denial of this basic principle only fuels division and confusion.

I also lack respect for what I see as skewed, non-American values that some on the left promote. Their tolerance, and at times encouragement, of violent protests and lawlessness under the guise of activism betrays the core principles of responsibility and respect for law that our country was built upon. Such attitudes undermine social cohesion and show a disregard for the safety and well-being of all Americans.

You’ve also nailed the crucial point about how the left’s response to the recent anti-ICE protests, which quickly turned violent, is not just tone-deaf but politically damaging. Rioters waving foreign flags, destroying property, and attacking law enforcement do indeed create an image that alienates many Americans. It’s no surprise that Democrats remain largely silent on the chaos while condemning efforts to restore order. This hypocrisy only reinforces the public’s perception that progressive leaders tolerate or even tacitly encourage lawlessness when it suits their agenda.

What the left fails to grasp, and what you rightly highlight, is that this failure to condemn violence and disorder is directly fueling Trump’s political strength. By refusing to acknowledge the damage these riots cause to their own cause, they’re handing the president a powerful argument about the need for law and order. It’s a critical lesson that the left continues to ignore at their own peril. Your view reinforces the urgent need for a responsible and united response to ensure that enforcement of immigration laws is respected while public safety is maintained.

This statement by ice Barbie was really not given enough attention...

She says the job of the Homeland Security's is to "liberate this city [LA] from the socialist and burdensome leadership."

What?   The federal government, the administration forcing and ideology upon a state that elected its governor? Oh hell no.... This woman needs to go.  She is an absolute failure. Dress up time is over.

Also, imagine if the Secret Service would've forcibly removed and handcuffed Republicans who interrupted Biden & Obama's State of Union speeches....

Trump says undocumented immigrants who work on farms and hotels can stay because they are cheap labor.

Same guy doesn’t want cheap manufacturing from China.

Make it make sense…tell me how you support it now but you railed against it previously...

All of you who said "this is what I voted for"....undocumented workers are here to stay.
