President Donald Trump recently called for California Democrat Senator Adam Schiff to face jail time, bringing up newly declassified documents that allege officials from the Obama administration “manufactured and politicized intelligence” to push the narrative that Russia interfered in the 2016 election.
Trump took to Truth Social on Sunday evening, saying, “Adam ‘Shifty’ Schiff is in BIG TROUBLE!” He accused Schiff of falsifying loan documents and pointed out that Schiff had previously claimed Trump’s son would go to prison over a scam, one that Trump says Schiff and other Democrats made up to stage a “coup.” Trump insisted his son was innocent and called the whole situation “an American Tragedy,” arguing that Schiff should be the one facing prison for a real crime.
The heat on Schiff intensified after the U.S. Federal Housing Finance Agency (FHFA) sent a letter to the Department of Justice in May, alerting them that Schiff allegedly falsified bank and property documents multiple times to get better loan terms on a property in Potomac, Maryland, affecting payments from 2003 through 2019.
FHFA oversees big federal mortgage entities like Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac. Schiff’s office didn’t respond to requests for comment on the allegations.
Trump continued to slam Schiff publicly, especially after Fannie Mae’s financial crimes division reported that Schiff appeared to have engaged in a “sustained pattern of possible occupancy misrepresentation” on five different loans. Trump said Schiff claimed his primary residence was in Maryland to get cheaper mortgage rates, but Trump insists Schiff must actually live in California because he represented that state in Congress. According to Trump, the alleged mortgage fraud began with refinancing in 2009 and continued until 2020, when the property was finally labeled correctly as a second home.
Schiff dismissed the claims as just another attack from Trump, pointing out on social media that Trump has called for his arrest for treason ever since Schiff led the first impeachment against him. Schiff said these allegations won’t stop him from holding Trump accountable.
Trump and Schiff have been fierce political rivals for years. Schiff was the lead House manager during Trump’s first impeachment in 2020 and was one of the loudest voices pushing the Russia collusion narrative against Trump’s 2016 campaign.
Right after Trump’s accusations about Schiff’s mortgages, Trump’s Director of National Intelligence, Tulsi Gabbard, declassified documents that she says show “overwhelming evidence” that Obama and his top security officials orchestrated the Russia probe to undermine Trump’s presidency after he won in 2016. Gabbard told Fox News that these documents reveal how Obama, James Comey, John Brennan, James Clapper, Susan Rice, and others intentionally created “manufactured, politicized intelligence” to subvert the will of the American people and carry out what she calls a “years-long coup” against Trump.
Schiff was a central figure during the height of the Russian collusion claims, even when the House censured him in 2023 for his role in pushing that narrative. He served in the House representing California from 2001 until 2024, when he won a Senate seat. He was also the ranking member and later chair of the House Intelligence Committee, where he had access to classified information about the Russia investigation.
Back in 2018, Schiff pushed for Donald Trump Jr. to be subpoenaed as part of Special Counsel Robert Mueller’s investigation into alleged collusion between the Trump campaign and Russia. That investigation wrapped up in March 2019 and found no evidence of collusion.

Back in 2011, although NPR’s audience tilted a bit to the left, it still bore a resemblance to America at large. Twenty-six percent of listeners described themselves as conservative, 23 percent as middle of the road, and 37 percent as liberal.By 2023, the picture was completely different: only 11...

To the astonishment of few, the Buffoon-In-Chief has refused to release a Democratic memo debunking the Nunes memo. What else could he do? Nunes refused to answer questions about his staff colluding with the WH on his memo as well. Why? The answer is obvious to those who have seen Nunes in action...

Today Adam Schiff stood before our Senate and told a long ongoing story. A story that he could not prove. Yet he was allowed to go on and on telling his story. Schiff used all the drama he could muster. He even had the audacity to provide videos of witnesses that testified in the House...
