The Charlie Kirk Phenomenon

Charlie Kirk, a right-wing influencer of enormous popularity with the younger, TikTok crowd, Was shot an killed by a lone gunman at a college in Utah while speaking in front of about 3,000 attendees.

The reaction was swift - total condemnation from both the Right and the Left (minus a few idiotic extremists) for yet another killing. Chances are it was political in nature, but like the first attempt on Trump, it may not be - we will have to wait until they catch the shooter. But there is where the two sides part. Conservatives are treating him like a martyr whose gospel was interrupted. Liberals are probably happy Kirk can no longer spread his unAmerican divisiveness.

Why do I say that? Because Kirk's message, from an American values point of view, was about everything we are not supposed to be for. Examples:

    * On wives who keep their vote private from their husbands: “You have to ask, what else is she lying to him about? Is she stealing money?”

    * “Transgender people are a throbbing middle finger to God … [an] abomination.”

    * The great replacement strategy … is a strategy to replace white rural America with something different.”

    * “America does not need more visas for people from India … [the U.S. is] full.”

    * Referring to Leviticus 20:13 he  described it as “God’s perfect law when it comes to sexual matters.” What does Leviticus 20:13 say? If a man also lie with mankind, as he lieth with a woman, both of them have committed an abomination: they shall surely be put to death; their blood shall be upon them.

    * “Happening all the time in urban America, prowling Blacks go around for fun to go target white people — that’s a fact.” That is NOT a fact, just hateful speech

    * “If I see a Black pilot, I’m gonna be like, ‘Boy, I hope he’s qualified.’”

    * "Large dedicated Islamic areas are a threat to America… Europe is now a conquered continent.”

What a piece of work!!! And Conservatives want to consider THAT a martyr?

I have said my peace regarding this matter in another thread started by islandbites. Conservatives would nominate Kirk for sainthood if they could, but his record on the ground stinks.
