Democrats &/or Liberals create cultures of entitlement, victimology, handouts, & ingratitude while Republicans &/or Conservatives create cultures of hard work, responsibility, & accountability.  Democrats created a generational welfare system and other systems which taxed the middle class.  Democrats/Liberals are responsible for a more entitled society i.e. people believe that the government should do for them what they should be doing for themselves.   There are people who believe that the government should provide them with a comfortable life on other people's i.e. the middle class' dime.

Republicans/Conservatives counter this by proclaiming that people ought to lift themselves by their own bootstraps & not depend upon the government.  They believe that the government don't owe anyone anything.   They furthermore believe that people should take responsibility for themselves & be accountable.  They assert that no one is a victim unless they want to be.  What are your views on this subject?

Grace,  I agree with much of what you said about the difference in mindset between liberals and conservatives. I’ve always believed that hard work, accountability, and personal responsibility are the cornerstones of a strong society. When those values weaken, entire communities can become dependent on government programs that were originally meant to be temporary safety nets.

That said, I also recognize that in any society there will always be people who, through no fault of their own, struggle to get ahead, whether because of health issues, bad luck, or circumstances beyond their control. For those individuals, some form of help is both necessary and right. But the help should be designed to lift people up, not keep them dependent.

I believe that if a person is able-bodied, they should work and provide for themselves. Work not only sustains a person financially but also builds dignity, purpose, and pride. To borrow an old saying, if you give a person a fish, they eat for a day; if you teach them to fish, they eat for a lifetime. That captures my belief perfectly: we should offer opportunity, not lifelong dependency.

So, in short, I align with conservative values of self-reliance and limited government, but I also believe compassion and common sense must guide how we apply them. True conservatism isn’t cold or unfeeling; it’s about empowering people to succeed on their own, while recognizing that a hand up is sometimes necessary to help them do just that.

Sharlee, remember the saying that the road to hell is paved with good intentions.  That is what Liberals are doing.    Republicans also believe in tough love which is a great thing.

Liberals and Leftists are two different things.

Open borders and social services for all, regardless of citizenship, are not economically possible...

What is the definition of a woman ... gender is a choice...

These things are not Liberal... they are Leftist... they are insane... they are pushed and propagated to bring the destruction of the Nation so that it can be rebuilt into something else... like China perhaps... where all serve the State/Party.

      I agree with this concept...

I have seen enough of it... 3rd generation welfare recipients that know how to game the system from cradle to grave... many people out there getting housing, food, and healthcare services for free living as well or better than I am and not working for it (well, not above table).

I ran programs in NY that provided them with services, it was an eye opening few years to be a director of such programs, to see how the politics of it worked, to see the waste, fraud and abuse... and how it was encouraged by all levels of the system.
