    Drat it!

I was typing the title as "Obama's Mission to Mars" but my little finger strayed too far!  LOL  I hit the "Enter" key instead of the "apostrophe".

Anyway, the article illustrates, once again, Obama's agenda to mainstream Islam into American society.

"Obama's agenda to mainstream Islam into American society."

???Brenda, what are you smoking? Where did you get this ridiculous idea? Did Rush claim that Obama's using the stimulus program to build mosques?

I just thought it's just like Obama to make the NASA program diminutive.  It used to be about reaching the stars. Now it's about encouraging math and science and reaching out to muslims where half the people are illiterate.  It's just plain stupid.

I am not a fan of Obama necessarily, however:

      - Why are you calling for a large NASA budget when your economy is in the tank?

      - "encouraging math and science" is bad now, is it?

"just plain stupid" apparently. I know why Brenda hates to see anyone getting an education, but I am not sure about this one.

The NASA program is one of our foremost technological programs where we continue to develop new technologies and engineering that ultimately benefit everyone.  It is an investment on our future.

Encouraging math and science programs...uh, yeah we think it should be part the educational programs roll not NASA.

I smell a payoff. It's the chicago way.  He might be giving this group a leg up on the engineering information so that they can develop products without having to pay for the research.

AdsenseStrategiesposted 12 years agoin reply to this

This is not the Chicago way, in particular. It is just about EVERY politican's way; the vast majority of them are hand-in-glove with Big Business -- and it is THIS fact that is the REAL threat to America and its democracy, and not some half-baked idea about Muslims...

        1. Flightkeeper profile image67
Flightkeeperposted 12 years agoin reply to this

It's the Chicago way because that's where Obama's political ties are from.  It's not unusual for Big Business and the fed to work together, but it has be transparent.  Something that Obama always promises but never delivers.

I don't doubt that Obama has broken many of his promises. But why don't you point the finger at BOTH parties -- they are both as corrupt as each other.

The Catch 22 is that if you disagree with the premise of the article, then you could sound racist, or something similar. The mission of NASA is about exploring the universe, not public relations with another country or culture. Any public relations for NASA should be about cooperation and collaboration in space technology.

I am all for improving international relations, human rights, education, etc.,  with any country and the US, but I don't see that it's NASA's job to get involved in it.

Obama's premise to the NASA chief seems very mis-guided at best, and it smacks of favoritism toward one group of people, instead of being inclusive of many/all groups.

    1. Flightkeeper profile image67
Flightkeeperposted 12 years agoin reply to this

Well there are endless hubbers who will have no problem accusing people of being racists. It's what they normally do anyway.

We already work with other nations in space science!  Believe it or not, there are smart Muslim people.  Do not judge the intelligence of all Muslims by those you see involved with terrorism.

Just as I hope other countries do not judge us by some of the rabid members of the extreme right!

      1. Daniel Carter profile image66
Daniel Carterposted 12 years agoin reply to this

I'm aware that the US works with several countries in the space program. I'm absolutely all for it.  I'm also completely aware that Muslim people hold a vast amount of wealth and knowledge in many, many areas. They have great power. However, Obama seems to indicate that NASA's responsibility it to "repair" relations with the Muslim world. I don't think that has much to do with science. Perhaps the better way for the directive to be worded is to "invite collaboration and cooperation in the field of science with Arabic nations, and others who are prepared to discuss such possibilities..."

Hell, if we could engage Iran in productive conversations about space, it may take a LOT of tension from that very tedious relationship!

Brenda, this downsizing of NASA is really a major disappointment.  There were so many great things that were happening in terms of exploration that they had in the pipeline.

I've never been one to back space exploration much,  but yes I'm disappointed that America's interests regarding that are now under the thumb of a man who openly does NOT have America's interests at heart.

What evidence do you have that supports your claim? I'm curious.

It seems you are more prejudiced against Muslims because they aren't Christians. Because that's what the evidence of your posts in the forums adds up to.

People actually have a problem with this?
    I think it's great!

Inspiring kids to want to explore and learn...rather than "contemplate our worthlessness" as so many preachers insist we do.

And Hooray to reaching out to muslims! They have been the scapegoat for all the worlds ills since Bushco came to town with their false flag terrorism. Creating terrorism with their policies. Dumb idiots.

The old ways are gone....in case you missed it. Kids today are not the homophobic, bigoted small-minded people of America's recent past. They are WAY past all that crap.

But I will say this; Weidner is a conspiracy researcher and he says the elite are planning an escape to Mars before the solar flare hits earth...maybe he would say they are doing this to facilitate that!

Either way, leave it to dinosaurs to find a way to bash Obama in every move he makes....

hahahaha. Thought you all had perished with the last asteroid???
"Watch out for that Tyrannisaurus!!! It's got a BIG mouth!!!"

Nah, the old ways aren't gone.
Those impressionable kids' minds are just being temporarily buried under the stomping foot of heterophobia and other liberalisms.

Why anyone would, like you, take delight in the perverting of young minds is beyond me.

But hey, I now am FOR the space program fully if it will take all you liberals to Mars to live there!  Just please leave the children here so they can be taught what's right.

All the griping about downsizing NASA comes from those for less government control!  What do they have against private space exploration by commercial companies?  I doubt they would like it if the aviation industry was completely run by the government like they want the space program to be.

How many of these complainers voted for Dumbya twice and for McCain and Palin last election?  They can't get the taste of sour grapes out of their mouths it seems.  I love it when they hate it!

    1. Jim Hunter profile image61

I think NASA should be downsized and the logical place for space exploration is in the private sector.

I didn't vote for Bush at all but I did vote for McCain, the alternative was in my opinion not a good choice.

I was under the impression that ending the shuttle program was partly to do with the age of the shuttles. Also, that they were going to invest more in looking to reaching Mars?

I can see a good reason for NASA to train people in math and science would be to encourage more to be astronauts.
