THE US government secretly advised Scottish ministers it would be "far preferable" to free the Lockerbie bomber than jail him in Libya.
How come I had to read an Australian Newspaper to hear about this ?
The document, acquired by a well-placed US source, threatens to undermine US President Barack Obama's claim last week that all Americans were "surprised, disappointed and angry" to learn of Megrahi's release
Why does our media not do their job ?
Heres the whole report

To get the News right on America, Tony...You have to go to other countries media reports to get the "real" news. I have often heard the news coming from Costa Rica on Houston/Texas/America...with more detail and more thorough of a report...and less cover-up than our own local/national media.
The US Media is a Joke...Entertainment sponsored, bought, and paid for by their advertisers...and whatever political affiliation that particular media source owner has!
Mr Steve Walters it is a sad day indeed that the only thing we can trust American media for is thw weather report now.And sometimes they get that wrong but at least it is an honest mistake ! I think this is part of the problem why we are so divided, we have no source to count on for the truth !
According to recent relevations, much of the MSM was in conclusion in limiting negative reports about Obama duriong his campagin, so there's no reason to think now is any different. The press believeing Americans are stupid, are working to drag Americans to make the "right" decisions, supporting Obama and his legislation and apparently it's been working!
I think you meant in collusion and that is exactly my point, MSM and the cable news services are now giving the news with their slant on it. Some by what they report but most by what they don't report. We can't trust them. The Sherrod thing on FOX and Jourholist are just obvious examples !
Then...if the media isn't working hard enough or doing a good job fast enough with the dragging of Americans to make the decisions that the media thinks is best for us (probably just best for them)...Then, there is always "The View" where our President is scheduled to talk about important matters to everyone sitting at home...not working...in the morning.
Don't know. What I want to know is why are those the only two options mentioned? Send Megrahi to Libya to serve the rest of his sentence? Ridiculous! Do you really think he'd have served any time in Libya? Or maybe he'd have had a gilded cage.
And the mere effect of him being back home is another factor.
So why was there a prisoner exchange being discussed?
Were the Scottish opposed to him serving the rest of his time in Scotland, because I don't see that as an alternative in the article.
The only media that does it's job is the "underground" media like wikileaks that publishes what insiders give it.
I think traditional MSM is on it's death-bed.
For all that there's something wrong here. Why was Megrahi not required to serve out his sentence in Scotland?
Tony, as I recall you saying recently, there are more important things to worry about. Obama may have influenced the type of release, but I doubt he had power to stop it.
I feel most sorry for the Scottish, having been severely criticised for their actions. Now it transpires that the 'big kid' told the 'little kid' to do it, and then told on him to the teacher.
What's always bugged me is that the Scottish 'parliament' has barely more power than a regional authority. I can't help thinking that they didn't have the power to authorise release of this prisoner but we're being fed that they did.
Oh and the man who was on death's doorstep is still walking around. Noting is as it seems, but according to the quote "You can fool all of the people some of the time, but not some of the people all of the time".
It'll have had to do with oil.
Far from being a "regional" authority the Scottish parliament has more power than your average senate committee.
As for the release of a dying man on compassionate grounds? I am aware personally of people within my own family sent home to die because medical doctors could do no more and yet they lived 5/6 years after discharge.
My dear great grandfather though was the unlucky one as he was knocked over and killed by a bus coming home from the pub.
He was into his fourth year of a three months to live discharge.
As for your president possibly telling lies? Its his job he is after all a politician.
So Obama preferred to release a terrorist rather than leave him be.
And then lied to us about it.
I should be shocked by this.
Lying is part of his Nature, and condoned by his religion.
In all fairness lying is not limited to Obama. And in his defense he was not happy about this according to the report. But it seems from what I read that he knew about this last August. Also the UK Telegraph is on the story too.

One thing the Shirley Sherod incident should have taught wingnuts and liberals is not to believe the first report. What actually transpired is not clear - and while the story deserves to be watched there's a lot of wingnuts getting their exercise here jumping to conclusions - and making some heroic leaps, I might add.
Doug I will say oddly enough I agree with you but the Telegraph UK also did a report on this. It seems I may have to go to foriegn news sources to get the truth. Because if there is one thing the Sherrod fiasco has put on the forefront it is that we cannot rely on our media for the truth, instead we get slant and that is from both sides of the journalism political spectrum
hubbers
Some recent comments I made regarding the truth and the mainstream media. We the people need to be more vigilant as to what President Barak Obama and the Democrat controlled Congress is doing in Washington. What is deeply concerning is that our honest representatives, both Democrat and Republican, continue to be silent as to the spending of tax payer monies to certain groups related in the government.
Viewers suffer a form of brainwashing it seems‘’, when it comes to getting the full truth of any story from the major mainstream news medias.
Here’s a story you will not see or hear on the mainstream news . Staff members of Congress were rewarded with the government paying off there student loans. The cost to the taxpayers was this time only $12 million. For all those still paying off their student loans they need to get closer to the politicians in Washington. Let’s not forget that the student loan program was taken over by the government on 3/23/10 when President Barak Obama signed the Healthcare Reform bill. One must wonder what student loans have to do with the healthcare reform bill.
Wake up America ,the government took over 60% of the economy with the signing of the finance reform bill on 7/22/10.
Love this idea...Simple...yet effective! Rip them all the heck out of office. It is not like a single one of them has come up with any wonderful long term solutions. Ok...Washington, D.C....line up for your pink slips...you can go home now!
