Republicans are trying to shut down government just like '95.

They will never learn. If they weren't for ponzi banking as a solution for cuts you could trust a Republican.

Both parties allowed the housing bubble. Obama wanted to stop this massive bank leveraging through the Volcker Rule, but Congressman Senslessbrainer from Alabama decided he wanted hedge fund bubbles and easy money ponzi loans.

Oh, his real name is Sensenbrenner. But you get the point.

more BS spinning! let me ask you something? How come the democrats did not get the budget done before the election as it was suppose to???? because the election was a few weeks away and they did not want to lose even more seats! then they had the lame duck session, how come they did not do it then? I will tell you why because they wanted to try and blame the republicans for the government shut-down! why did they only pass it until April??It is so plainly obvious but either your blind or stupid to see it. are you going to say that social security is going to be taken away? it is not! please with the nonsense! the democrats did not do their job and this was the first time a congress did not get a budget passed! JOKE!!!

Calling me stupid? And you follow Hannity who lies about every poll he ever reported on? Go ahead Republicans, shut the government down and see how you do next election. Go on, take the chance.

I guess the Republicans are playing into the Dems hands and that makes them look pretty stupid.

How many times did the government shut down during the Carter administration with democrats controlling both houses?

How about the 6 times a democrat congress and senate allowed a shutdown during the Reagan administration.

          You only remember 1995?

By the way, the Republicans kept power in both houses after that for a decade.

Go ahead Obama, let the government shut down.

No, I researched and saw no shutdowns. Unless you can post proof with links Jim, I discount your accuracy.

              You did research?

"Between fiscal year 1977 and 1980 (during Jimmy Carter’s presidency) there were six shutdowns that together totaled 66 days."

              http://firstread.msnbc.msn.com/_news/20 … downs-past

"From a practical perspective, shutdowns usually aren't that big a deal," the AP concluded. "They happened every year when Jimmy Carter was president, averaging 11 days each. During President Reagan's two terms, there were six shutdowns, typically of just one or two days apiece. Deals got cut. Everybody moved on."

I did not call you anything! I'm a real democrat! not a socialist. how come you can not answer a question? how come the democratic party who had the house, senate and presidency did not for the first time in history not get a budget done????why skip the question? I told you because they knew they would lose even more seats and they did not have the votes. then in the lame duck session they only passed it until April? why??? please answer. again so they can blame it on the republicans. guess what in 95 there was no FOX news, no internet as today so people know and MSNBC, CBS, ABC are garbage and everyone knows they are bought! Obama is not a leader! Clinton worked with republicans and did it, bush worked with dems and did it, this man is not a real leader! you will see who the loser is, the GOP will win this one! guaranteed! everyone sees the BS... stop watching Rachel and MSNBC
we are almost bankrupt and the democrats will not cut 61B that is 2% what a crock of $hit

Surprise! The government doesn't actually "shut down" during a shutdown. This article was written regarding the potential government shutdown last month:

    http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20110224/ap_ … t_shutdown

    From the article:

"The air traffic control system, food inspection, Medicare, veterans' health care and many other essential government programs would run as usual. The Social Security Administration would not only send out benefits but would continue to take applications. The Postal Service, which is self-funded, would keep delivering the mail. Federal courts would remain open."

    Also:

"There haven't been any shutdowns since [1995]. The politics stink.
But from a practical perspective, shutdowns usually aren't that big a deal. They happened every year when Jimmy Carter was president, averaging 11 days each. During President Reagan's two terms, there were six shutdowns, typically of just one or two days apiece. Deals got cut. Everybody moved on."

The government shutdown is a symbolic matter, nothing more. And as is the case with all symbolism, it means only as much as the beholder lets it.

The shutdown will result in things like passport applications getting delayed. Pfft, c'mon. As if that whole system was a model of efficiency anyway. Also some parks will be closed. Big deal. The animals could probably use a break.

I agree with you bg. They never learn, and neither do we. It's always the same thing with them...always. And the Baglicans are them, only worse. A scourge on America, imo.

And just btw--I don't know any Democrat who thinks Obama is a Socialist. In fact, he leans far to the Right for me--always compromising with those lay-abouts with their hands out!
Trust-Fund babies, people who sit around all day moving money on a screen...MEH!

Why don't you find a Socialist and ask THEM if obama is one of them?
    Bernie Sanders comes to mind....

Anyway--I hope they don't do this, because my daughter is on tap for a school trip to Spain, and she is waiting on a passport as we speak.
But I know my daughter means NOTHING when the Koch Bros are in line. They come first, second, third and fourth.

And the only reason that the Dems were ever hampered during their "reign" was because of obstructioning by the Republibaggers.
    Morose, pouting, stuck-up BIG BABIES!

Shameful that they represent this country....

Now, how would you feel if I told you that I was  Republican??
    Would you believe me?

The Dems are just as responsible for the shut down as the Repubs. Both are guilty. The fact that there is no negotiation to prevent is a sad commentary about where we are.

If the shut down happens, congress will get their full pay, on time. The military, however, will get an "advance", and their pay is automatically cut in half.

This is what Dems and Republicans have done for our country. Spent us into unrecoverable oblivion for the sake of lining their own pockets, and the special interest groups that keep them in office. Under the guise of bigger gov't  being for the people, they have made a monstrosity that is now nearly out of control.

One place to begin making a difference is among ourselves. In our own business transactions and daily life. Give our business service oriented smaller, local businesses who ultimately founded the premise of prosperity in this country. Return economic power to small business and local consumers.

Does this mean if there is gov't shut down, we will not pay federal taxes during those days,  is it fair that way??
