Today, Connecticut abolished the death penalty.

    its been a long time coming and im still a little surprised they actually did it! Public opinion about abolishing the death penalty isn't really supportive, it's something like 60% dont think it should be abolished.  The problem with this statistic is that here in CT residents just watched the trails of the horrendous Chesire Home Invasions from back in 2007, who both criminals are now on death row.  So it's weird that it got through when it did but even stranger is that the abolishment of the death penalty is only for cases here on out and does not include the number of men already on death row for the state.  So although good for the future, men will still be killed by the death penalty in CT in the short term.
