    Obama is closing the gap with men, but now Romney is ahead with women. ?? Do you think it's because of the gay marriage announcement?

      I, for one, am a woman, who read Obama's books, liked his energy, ideas and enthusiasm and his lack of Washington DC-itis...... But after 4 years I see that his actions did not match with the ideas in his books or his claims in the campaign. I see past the winning smile to his manipulative tactics, his lack of leadership ability and his arrogance.
      I am surprised, actually, that Romney is closing the gap with women, because it seems like a lot of times women are more swayed by looks and charisma(Clinton) But maybe women are looking more at the reality of what our kids are facing and that fact is swaying opinion. Good Forum question Habee!

        smile Obama closing the gap with men, really no one I know will admit to supporting Mr. Obama.
        Even the folks that voted for him in the last election are disapointed with the work or lack of.
        Its time for change, gay marage and all that is fine for the two or so percent however the fifteen or so percent of the population that is under and unemployed have something else to worry about, and so too should Mr. Obama
        Then maybe women will forget about the war on women.

      Women who have commented on the subject feels Obama has created the shift in regards to women by allowing the campaign strategist to attempt to paint the opposition as women haters with such flops as Sandra Fluc, The contraceptive mandate just in time for the campaign. Debbie Wasserman Shultz ramblings of baseless claims of woman hating from the GOP does'nt reasonate well with alot of women either. They're far more intelligent than being played upon emotionally. Charizma only helps when a national debt crisis is not looming on the horizon.

      I think the heat of the moment got women to start questioninng Romney. but now that the Romney campaign has spun the facts about contraception, he pulled up to match Obama. The CBS poll is inconclusive regarding women--its a statistical tie (46-44). Meanwhile Obama has a higher favorability rating than Romney. When the information gets out about Romney downsizing so many factories and firing 50,000 people, he won't have his current edge concering the economy.

        Firing the fluff and turning a failing company into a profitable one is exactly what the government has to do, and it will happen through austerity measures or a natural econonomic collapse and rebuild Apocalypse that will make the great depression look like the good ole days.

          A town, a city, a state, the government is not a business you destroy and form another one...

                    Get real LMC. We DID not change government in 2008. It hasn't been changed. The fact that Obama came out and said he is a socialist, actually makes him dishonest. No socialist would ever get elected. Socialism isn't allowed National. Having socialistic programs for those who need them? Well, that's as far as it should go.

                Congress....you're guys.... would not allow Gitmo to close. Just as they would not allow terrorist trials in NYC. Do you want him to do it over their heads? He already used the nuclear option on healthcare.

                This is not, contrary to what all these people say, a dictatorship!

                Obama cannot act unilaterally. He must act within the confines of checks and balances. And this particular group of non-governing lay-abouts(TP)is all checks, no balance.

    1. The main subject of this poll is same-sex marriage, a topic that only 7% of voter say is the most important to them.
    Perhaps when they do a poll focused on the economy and tax plans, etc., the results will show different.
    2. Most appalling to me is that if you jump to the end and overall impression of the candidates, Romney's not exactly tearing up the charts. Only 38% view him favorably.

    What does this tell us?
    The Anybody but Obama tactics are working. The money machine is making progress!
    It doesn't really matter who the GOP puts up there because it's not about what he will do, or even what he stands for (today -- flip-floppers welcome) it's all about -- and has been since day one of his presidency -- getting Obama out.

    It saddens me to now how people will vote against their own self-interest because they are too stupid to pay attention to details.

      You got it on that. People vote their convictions--that Obama's a socialist, etc.--not with their economic future in mind--because they do not understand the facts. That's mostly to do with the bias and nonsense that goes for news and American's apathy.

    Romney is outspending Obama 4 to 1.

    And Romney is no change...it's back to the 8 years of Bush.

    You all want that? Go for it. Vote for money over human beings....remember, corporations are people. And that's the only people that matter to Republicans.

    Do not believe the hype. Trust no polls in this early part of the election circle. Obama would win by 5 to 6 points. The electoral map does not favor Romney. Many Christian conservatives are nor enthusiastic about both candidates, why

    Mitt Romney - a Mormon

    Barack Obama - supports same sex marriage

    and most would stay home throwing the election Obama's way.

    This is what I want, and duh... and he won the election! So--what are these obstructionists doing to MY vote? To all of us who voted for Obama? By refusing to govern--because their party isn't in power-- what exactly does that do to those of us who voted for Obama? It nullifies our votes!

    These obstructionists have stomped on the Constitution AND the people of America who voted for Obama!

    This country appears to be of YOUR people, by YOUR people and for YOUR people only.

      Before a NEW government can be installed, the remnants of the status quo must be eliminated, which is something Obama said he would do, but so far he has helped the status quo more so than anything else.

      No one swiped out your citizenship, so get off the stupid horse.

    He said he would break the status quo in America by bringing change. The change he brought is stripping rights, damaging the economy even more, ruining education, ruining the dollar(US currency), adding to the debt of this nation and claiming that the future is how it will be paid for, which is BS.

    ALL politicians lie. They do it because you cannot accept the truth of the matter and that matter is that you are not trusted as an individual to do what is best in  your own life. It must be governed every step of the way, because you're excepted to be uncivilized.

    American politicians tell people we live in a civilized society, yet we have pro-lifers(people who are against abortion- calling it murder) killing doctors who perform the operations. Say thank you to the Christian right of America. I am even sure there are some Christian left who support pro-lifers. This is civilized action?

    America has more serial killers and mass murders, rapists and assorted other convicts than any other Nation in the world. Say thank you to poor governing.

    It is completely absurd to think that you have to be told what is in your own best interest, especially from some external source. But, government does it every day of the week.

    Every time you step outside of your home, you are duty bound by citizenship of America, to do what is in the best interest of society. #1- being civil, #2- report a crime, if you see one, #3- protect yourself, your rights and that of your family, to your fullest ability.

    It gets tiring to go back and forth, and back and forth again. Too many people fail to understand when and where, and how and why of their own individual rights. It's pathetic. So many people uneducated about the Constitution. So many unable to provide for themselves because of factors that are beyond their control continue.

    The Status Quo in America has to be broken in order for growth to happen. Having a handful of people controlling the marketplace is not going to produce growth. Romney is no answer to fixing the problems in America and neither is Obama. Ron Paul isn't the answer either, but if you could mix a little of each of them into one candidate then you might actually have something.

    "Some commentators blame recent legislation — the stimulus bill and the financial rescues — for today’s record deficits. Yet those costs pale next to other policies enacted since 2001 that have swollen the deficit. Those other policies may be less conspicuous now, because many were enacted years ago and they have long since been absorbed into CBO’s and other organizations’ budget projections.

    Just two policies dating from the Bush Administration — tax cuts and the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan — accounted for over $500 billion of the deficit in 2009 and will account for almost $7 trillion in deficits in 2009 through 2019, including the associated debt-service costs. (The prescription drug benefit enacted in 2003 accounts for further substantial increases in deficits and debt, which we are unable to quantify due to data limitations.) These impacts easily dwarf the stimulus and financial rescues. Furthermore, unlike those temporary costs, these inherited policies (especially the tax cuts and the drug benefit) do not fade away as the economy recovers (see Figure 1).

    Without the economic downturn and the fiscal policies of the previous Administration, the budget would be roughly in balance over the next decade. That would have put the nation on a much sounder footing to address the demographic challenges and the cost pressures in health care that darken the long-run fiscal outlook."

    Howard Dean said it on a news program....but I have a malware in my computer, and can only search on you-tube.
    Only sites I can link articles come from my twitter account. I have tried a few clips on you tube...but it's like looking for a needle in a haystack.

        According to the treasury economic analysis and I checked the maths, each year of the Bush tax cuts cost 280 Billion over the next ten years (because of the interest paid on the debt that is accumulated instead) EGTRRA passed in 2001 and
        JGTRRA passed in 2003 so lets be generous to Bush and call it a 6 year period before Obama, 6X280= 1680 which means that by 2018 the Bus tax cuts will have cost nearly 1.7 trillion. At the moment we are adding almost a .8 trillion to our debt yearly (though it is a crisis) so now it's only about 33% of the yearly deficit back in the Bush years before the crisis it was more than 50% of our yearly deficit.
