    Always put you name, a copyright symbol and the date on each work published. There is a mechanical copyright law protecting your work. The date of publishing in a public domain proves its your work. Anyone that uses your work after that can be sued.

    Anything you write has an automatic copyright on it. Even a love letter to a friend or girlfriend. Hubpages for one is a site that allows tou to put your written work on the site for others to see. Thus noone else can copy your stuff once it is written and published.
    Having said that you can't copyright somethiing like 'a red balloon' or 'my sore knee' because they are too common. Anything you write that is completely original cannot be legally reproduced in the exact same form

    This is a good question.  Make sure it if posting it makes it protected that it still belongs to you, and not HubPages, if you intend to sell it elsewhere later.  With as much stuff is on here though I doubt that would be an issue.
