What is your best tip for dealing with anger?

We all deal with problems in our lives from time to time. What is your best suggestion for handling the pressure without losing your cool?

Focus it into something controlled and positively productive. Like a sport, a passion, or a project. Use it for good. Don't try to bury it, toss it to the side or avoid it. That isn't a healthy or useful long term situation. Plus that emotion can really help you be productive.

Music. Find songs, artists, and lyrics that keep you in a calm and happy mood.  Even if you don't feel like listening to that type of music at the time, it'll calm you down pretty effectively.

Chop onions. You can mash them if chopping doesn't do the trick, and you can blame the tears of frustration  on the onion effect.

Awareness of the emotion, watch it arise then let it go.  Remember that no one makes you angry, you do it your self, allways.  No one gets into your head and twiddles little knobs about, you are in charge off your own emotions, you only become angry, by allowing yourself to become angry.

I find that having some type of a physical outlet, whether it be exercise, hard work or beating the hell out of something (inanimate & non-human, of course), etc., can help release pent-up frustrations as they build-up from time to time.  Ya know, like let off some steam, if you will...
There are so many ways, but as far as not "blowing up on the spot" when angry, well, that is a trained behavior; good luck with it!  wink
