Do you think men need marriage more than women?
Studies have shown that married men live longer than single men yet single women live longer than married women. Despite the cliches of women dragging men to the altar, are men really more emotionally needy?
The problem here is looking at marriage as a "need". Marriage is about giving to the other person, sacrificing for them, and fulfilling their needs. Going into a marriage with an "I need" attitude will certainly cause problems!
I believe that behind every successful man is a woman. So, I guess men need marriage.
I like Emily Sparks answer. It takes two really mature individuals to make a marriage last for starters. And for both people to feel emotionally and physically "complete" takes a godly amount of energy and love. In this world, the rate of divorce only proves further most people don't know the real meaning of marriage yet.
Marriage is a life-style choice! I don't believe either sex "needs" marriage. Living life is about striving to get the things you (want). Truth be told there are only 5 things us adults need to live. (air, water, food, shelter & clothing). Anything beyond those five items falls under the catagory of (want or would be nice to have).
I suspect one of the reasons married men live longer is their wives push for them to visit the doctor more than a single man is likely to go. Early dectection of any diseases tends to prolong one's life. One man's opinion!:-)
