What is love?
How do you define love? How do you differentiate between love and true love?
Sorry but by love do you mean the type lavished on friends, parents, siblings etc.? And true love the type that compells you to live with someone for ever and ever?
I'd like to say to all you youngsters starting out, you know that flutter you feel when you first fall in love and can't sleep or think about anything else? Well, it gets better....really. To begin with that subsides....for me it lasted about eight years. Then come the years of doubt..."does he/she still want me?"...."is he/she still attracted to me?"...."why doesn't he tell me he loves me as much as I tell him?"(I think that's all girls)....
if you have true love you'll get past that phase and then come to that final phase where you do anything possible for each other without feeling obliged or oppressed...instead feeling great appreciation and profound love for each other.
It takes time and patience but to be able to do this first you have to love and appreciate yourself. Only then will you find someone worthy.
Love is a feeling you get when someone or something brings you pleasure or joy, happiness, and an overall positive "warm" feeling.
You could love your favorite slippers, blanket, or coffee cup. You have an attachment to it because when it is near to you, you feel safe, secure, and sometimes all warm and fuzzy.
You could love a type of food. Again, the memories and/or feelings it brings you causes a good feeling.
TRUE LOVE ~ that's unconditional. That's a feeling only felt for another living being. Your pet, your husband, your child, your parent, sibling, best friend....
True love is when even if the positive feelings which attracted you to that person are interrupted, you still care for them. You generally put their needs before your own. You think of them more than yourself. You want them to be happy, healthy, and taken care of.
Even if it means you aren't in the picture. Even if they hurt you. Even if they do things that you would never allow another person to put you through. Even if they do things that you would disown another person for ~ you still love them.
Like when a child commits a horrible crime. The parent still loves that child. Because the love is true.
Love to me is always unconditional.
I love my wife for what she is. Even though there maybe good as well as bad points but then I love her.
I love my children for what they are. Even though they may misbehave but then I still love them.
Love is always a mystery to many. But for me, love is what you feel for someone or some things. It is a wonderful feeling when it comes to love. Hard to explain but then when you feel it, it is there.
Imagine this person, lost a limb, was disfigured in a fire, cannot have children etc - Would you still want to be with them? If the answer is yes, then it's true love.
Here is what I think:

The difference, well, I think it's the peace; true love is peaceful and patient and withstands the test of time...
Classically there are 3 types of love. The love of family, the love of friends and the love of a romantic partner. If you believe in a god then there could well be a fourth love.
Individuals know love from their own unique standpoint, but trying to define it is virtually impossible. Many poets have tried to capture its essence but has anyone ever succeeded?
Love is a four letter word but has endless meanings. It is an ideal that can only be felt and not articulated. It can be expressed through a close relationship with a partner or partners, involving the physical, mental and spiritual.
'Greater love...' involves sacrifice and is perhaps closer to true love, that is, a non conditional love that is pure and carries no physical, mental or spiritual baggage.
Love is not selective! Just like the way how it is described here http://astralrose.hubpages.com/hub/5-Th … ve-Without
And I think there's no such thing as true love or just plain love!
What I want to say, I have already said in my hub:

What is the difference between "unconditional love" and "true love"?These phrases are becoming common, do we really understand them?

I recently realized that true love might just not exist at all. The feeling of love is momentary, i.e. what you feel at that particulart point of time... Nothing is same after a lapse of time, or rather we are no longer the same....
