    Is divorce ever okay?

Whether by biblical standards or by social morals, when is divorce acceptable? And if you go by biblical standards, is there ever an exception to the rule?

God would not want anyone to stay in an abusive marriage. Many people use the bible as an excuse not to look out for themselves. Whether you believe divorce is a sin or not the truth is no one is without sin. Everyone to some extent is a hypocrite. We "cherry pick" which rules we want to follow. I'm not saying it's right or wrong. I'm just acknowleding that it's true.
Eclesiastes 7 20 : "For there is not a just man upon earth, that doeth good, and sinneth not."
Life is a personal journey. You are responsible for your happiness! You set up your own "deal breakers" and ideally you would have discussed these prior to saying "I do". No one is "stuck" with anyone. God will forgive you for marrying the wrong person and divorcing them. A divorce is nothing more than one or both people reaching the conclusion that a mistake was made. None of us are perfect!

yes it is. there are many reasons to get divorced. the problem is that too many people get married when they shouldn't. divorce isn't wrong, it just ends up being a blood bath for too many people. i hate when kids are used as bargaining tools.

If your relationship is not a healthy loving relationship; If you have tried to the best of your ability to correct the issue(s); If you are not happy in the relationship; Then it is not a marriage. It's two people legally bound in an unwanted relationship. The divorce is done in terms of love. The only thing left is to get it legally recognized.
