Is it a good idea to go for marriage before career if you have found a good life partner?

Some say that You can make career anytime in life but you may not find a soul mate again. Rather journy of making a career with a good life partner would be even more enchanting?

You can build a career with your soul mate also. It is not easy finding a soul mate. I looked for a long time before I met a keeper. I have now been married to that man for 26 years. I was encouraged to do whatever I wanted, by him. A real keeper is one that encourages you to be the best you want to be. Never go for the ones that try to change you. You will be getting divorced because you want your life back.

For myself, I say absolutely - and I can say this because I know that my husband will support me in whatever career decisions I make, and I know my own mind well enough to be able to make those decisions.

That said, being married does (and should, I suppose - if it's a committed marriage) change the way you might approach some of these decisions. For instance, I don't see myself randomly taking a job in Qatar or something like that.

If your career (chosen, intended etc.) requires more than the normal amount of commitment/flexibility/self-centeredness, then it's a good idea to talk that over with a prospective partner - maybe you'll want to wait until after you've finished med school to get married, or after you've done your back-packing across Europe thing - or maybe, if you're lucky, your Person will have a career (chosen, intended etc) that either matches yours for demands or is so flexible it doesn't matter.

It is difficult to have a career, but much more difficult to find someone who will put themselves in your place, love you unconditionally, respect your point of view, back you up against family and friends, control himself when he doesn't get what he wants for your sake, and simply care.
If you find someone like that and you postpone making a life together for a career you deserve to be alone (with your career) for the rest of your life.
