Why people make excuses if he or she does not want to go with her or his partner? It is ethical?
Common but seems to be a common relationship issue. What is the basic idea behind this approach?
There are two ways to reject or turn down someone, either you be candid with them and let them know that you are not interested in pursuing a relationship with him/her, or you can make excuses. The former approach can sometimes hurt the individual to the point where they might want to get even with you or resent you. Most people tend to favor this approach just to avoid hurting the individual. As far as ethics are concerned, it's not what you say, but how you say that makes a difference; so if you can honestly tell the person the truth without causing them too much pain, I believe that should be most ethical approach!
