How do you bring up the discussion of marriage with your girlfriend?

I believe that no one should ever get rejected when the propose. The reason someone is turned down is because he hadn't already talked about marriage with his girlfriend. How do you bring up this conversation without actually proposing?

May not work for all .What I did was take her to a karaoke bar then I got down on one knee and sang George Strait " I cross my heart." She said yes so it must have worked LOL

Personally, I think that the discussion of marriage usually comes up naturally the longer you are together. If the topic of marriage hasn't come up, in general, then that may be a warning sign. However, women are being trained now to play it so low-key and not "scare" men away, that bringing up the subject may have the be the man's duty. I think talking about simple things like what your expectations of married life would be: ie, "I want to have 2 kids someday" or "I would like to spend Sunday mornings reading the paper with my wife" and usually that will open the door to not only talk about marriage in a non-threatening way but to also see if you both have the same idea of what marriage is all about.
