Do you believe home-stay-moms should receive a percentage from hubby`s income?
I would think it to be a partnership. Whatever is mine is hers as well.
Not really, but that should be included in the expenses. Otherwise, it seems a little sneaky that she should. What happened in my family, my mom would go to the bank, get a bunch of bills and organize them in her little planner. My mother controlled the money for groceries, extra activities, clothes, hair cuts, etc. Dad would control the bills and the gas debit account. He had to ask mom for food money or bills to go to the theater with the kids.
Doesn't she receive that percentage in the form of food, clothes, and housing?
I've always thought marriage was 50/50 with no one person having more control or more access to anything than the other. If he spends "X" amount of dollars on restoring a new hot rod in the garage or on fishing poles or whatever, she can spend that same "X" amount on her new hobbies, new clothes, whatever. In the same way, she needs to make sure his needs are being taken care of and that the money isn't just going to the kids or what she thinks is needed around the house.
Giving a woman an actual handout of money makes her seem like an employee or something worse, not a life partner.
No, not really. I was a stay at home mom and frankly I handled all the money. It was never a his versus mine. We are a team, partners...what one gets we automatically want to share with the other one.
Like almost everyone else has said, the marriage should be a partnership and everything is spent as a team. In my house, my 'income' is getting to stay home with my children instead of being away from them at work. We use our money to pay our bills and take care of the kids. If we ever need anything for ourselves, we always discuss it before spending the money. It's almost never an issue since we work as a team to keep our family going.
