   You know what, if you write poetry that is a special gift.
   
   I did that for my brother and sister in law. I wrote them a poem and added pictures and put it in a nice frame.
   
   If that is not what you want you can always just give a money gift, sometimes they get so much, they return or re gift. So this is the best way at times.

      The poetry gift sounds lovely for people who can write poetry.  I think the money gift is good when you just don't know what to buy someone but is probably more appropriate for close relatives to give. Thank you for these ideas.

   How about giving the anniversary couple a weekend get-away gift package? Bed-n-breakfast, posh hotel at a casino resort, or a nice cabin in the woods.  If it's from the whole gang, it could be a decent gift that would give them something memorable.

   I'm not sure we are the average couple but here is a short list of things we'd love. Bowling gift cards, restaurant gift cards, bar gift cards, tattoo shop gift cards, a nice bottle of liquor, home made vouchers to watch our children for us for a night, voucher for a couples massage, Already loaded cards for Frankies fun park or other theme type park, or any other things that would give us a break from parenthood and work.

   This sounds a bit too practical, but if people have been married a long time, 20, 30, 40 years, all of the things that they received as wedding gifts have worn out!  I remember using the last of the fluffy wonderful towels I had for a shower gift 25 years later.  Towels CAN last that long! But things wear out. And pretty towels have become really,really expensive. So if you're looking for practical gifts for an older couple, I'd ask them if there original wedding gifts need "refreshing".

      That's a terrific idea, especially if they're monogrammed towels.  After that many years, you presume the marriage will last.

   Bedding is a great idea so nobody feels left out or something both partners can  make use of.  A video camera, or smart television set
