How do I deal with being told what to say in my maid of honor speech?
Like most maid of honor's I was hoping to make a heartfelt speech and now I feel like it is scripted...
Tell them you have something much better to say. If they don't accept, you don't have to say anything at all. You don't always to satisfy people and let yourself down.
And you will have other opportunities to shine, I hope. Just do what makes you happy.
I don't think it's right to expect you to read a maid of honour speech when you can make one from your heart that will feel much more genuine to you. I'd talk with the bride/groom and let them know how you feel. If they disagree you can always decline giving the speech.
