Why is Monica Lewinski mocked & treated like a whore? Doesn't she deserve marriage & happiness?
Why do men think it is okay to sleep around but then find women who sleep around as trashy or easy? What makes a man-whore marriage material yet those same men consider women who have been around as dirty and unworthy of becoming housewife material? Especially in situations like Monica Lewinsky, she wasn't even getting around, she was in a 2 year long relationship with a man who took advantage of her and used power to entice her. Shouldn't she be viewed as a victim and not a poster woman for raunchy women?
We still live in a time where women's chastity is valued above men's. I actually don't mind assigning some value to chastity, but it seems like it should be equal.
We also live in a time where people will use whatever is available at times to denigrate someone. Consider Sandra Fluke as an example. She wasn't doing anything except talking about birth control and women's health and the right plastered her with the slut label.
It goes both ways as well. Look at how many times John Boehner has been made fun of for his public tears, because men, of course, aren't supposed to cry.
As for Monica, by her own admission, there was no coercion. I see no reason to label her a victim or a slut. She's probably just a human who screwed up, like everyone else.
I know right, holy had my life been defined by my choices made at age 20 I'd be screwed for life!
The reality is both genders are not in favor of the other sleeping around! I've never known any women who loved the idea of having a man who has slept with hundreds of women. They've called such men dogs!
However those men (don't care) what women think of them! What would happen if women stopped caring what men thought of them?
The real difference between men and women regarding sexual behavior is men do NOT attack other men for their exploits while women on the other hand will attack other women for their sexual behavior!
In fact many women feel threatened when they see other women dressed provocatively in public. They'll be the first ones to put them down!
It makes you wonder what would happen in society if women stopped calling other women whores, hoes, and b*tches?
I've seen these shows where when a man cheats on his wife with a woman who never knew he was married. Once the wife busts him she (automatically) calls the other woman a "ho" or "b*tch" without even listening to her side!
Whenever People Magazine spots two women wearing a similar outfit they'll post a photo of them asking: "Who wore it best?"
Prior to the start of every award show we have "the red carpet" which is all about women either praising or knocking other women on their gown, hair, makeup, and jewelry. Men do not sit around watching other men's clothes.
How can a woman with a college degree enter into a sexual relationship with a (world famous known married man) be looked at as completely innocent? Monica Lewinsky got more sympathy as the "mistress" than Hilary Clinton got as the wife!
Hypothetically if a 22 year old woman slept with (your) husband (knowing he was married to you) and in the residence you share it's doubtful you'd believe that (she) was taken advantage of.
As for Bill Clinton he did what most married men with that much to lose would do if they were caught; lie, deny, and make it seem as though the other person is lying. Hilary was the only innocent person in this affair. However because she did not (give up) on her marriage she is often not seen as a victim.
Monica deserves to be happily married and have a family. No matter who you are or what you may have done there is always someone who would date, love, and marry you. Men have been known to marry porn stars, strippers, and prostitutes. Monica didn't anything close to that. She should end up doing fine.
For some reason I see a goodness in her that makes me feel like she never met for the world to know her name. Dashing-you make some great points! I feel like men have such unrealistic expectations of woman these days its just a major dbl standard
Very true! Many people hold onto things especially from relationships they fear may not last. Someone women have been known to try to get pregnant! LOL! If it weren't for keeping the dress odds are she would never have been believed!
I don't think Monica Lewinski is being condemned for that act/affair itself, In my opinion its more for in the manner in which she did it. It true, men have been doing it for ever, but normally a mans actions are through immaturity/thinking with the wrong head and not for personal/financial gain, not that a mans reasoning makes it better, but If you truly care/like the person you are involved with, you wouldn't save their sperm on your dress like she did. If you have sex/affairs with the purpose of gaining fame or fortune ( ie...Donald Sterlings mistress, Anna Nicole Smith, Kim Kardashian) then you will obviously always be associated with being a whore/prostitute.
I get what you are saying, it makes sense that the dress thing kind of illegitimized (is that even a word? lol) her part in the whole scandal; but don't you think it's possible she kept the dress because it was after all the presidents junk con't
Lot of questions, Karen.
I saw a movie with David Carradine, where he played the role of a spiritual teacher or guide. He had to do some things which others did not understand but later became quite clear. The Mother slaps the child and this same child cries and wonders why. But mom knows that the child would probably have burnt itself.
Point here is that there is always a larger picture. Cosmic Law is pretty precise and decides most things while living in harmony with itself. We are all subjected to it: Action and reaction; cause and effect. This can be quite complex, but by an large, we get what we put out.
I wonder what she would say if she was allowed to speak? but again we are all, like the child which is yet to grow into a toddler, then a teenager, at different stages of life's journey.
Yoga philosophy asks us to be accountable, to look at ourselves; to create our own destiny, and there is more than enough moral, spiritual, self-help and life-coaching books, pointing us in the same direction. Do we listen?
Monica falls for us and rises for us. In an interconnected world, the Law is Love or selflessness, and the price of disobedience for anyone, can be pretty severe. Ultimately, adversity or suffering is our friend and teaches us all we need to know, albeit slowly. God is always merciful. Loving thoughts.

Can a gay man be attracted to a specific girl, but not women in general, and still be gay, not bi?As a writer, i'm wondering if it's possible for a gay or straight character to be attracted to a person of the gender that opposes their typical sexuality? Like, a gay person to be in love with a...

Having a husband or boyfriend who cheated is a big hit to your self esteem. You begin to doubt your marriage and your ability to make your husband happy or to be enough. And there are tons of old stereotypes which imply that if a man cheats, it’s because his wife doesn’t understand him, he’s...

Why do married men still seek friendship with other women?I have an account in Tagged and I emphasized there that I am married and that I am not going to accept add request for friendship. I explained too that the only reason I keep the account is because it has some sentimental value to me because...
