hello, over the course of two years i have gone through my first marriage and divorece. not that my vows didn't mean anything they did. he just turned out to be abusive to my kids which to me is crossing the line just as bad as cheating. so i took the kids and left and filed for divorce. i know some day i may find mr. right. i don't believe every marriage is doomed. there are some that find the right one and are married for years well into retirement. then there are the ones who don't and unfortunately there marriage fails and ends in divorce.

The fact that in any marriage there are two languages being spoken, but each party believes that there is only one.

I agree as well!  I actually wrote a hub about that one time as an answer to someone's question "How to Reduce the Divorce Rate".  I eventually deleted the hub, but that was my angle....get rid of marriages!  Who needs them?  They cause more harm than good and cost a fortune!

SirDentposted 8 years agoin reply to this

With the right keywords that hub might have done great.

LOL.....it got very few views, but then again, when I wrote it, I knew very little about SEO.....heck I still know very little, who am I kidding? LOL

I have no plans to get married anytime soon. However, my friends who actually got married are frustrated because their wives are not that interested in bedroom activities any more.

Likewise, if this happened to me I may eventually resort to affairs which is against marriage vows.

    Number one cause of divorce?
Lack of communication, lack of commitment, and lack of excitement.

actually-- that is three, but still a good answer.

Now what are the three reasons to stay married?

Right. i could use some elucidation-- yet still not bad.  I've been married 47 and a half years to the same person, and all of those fit in.

Not so much the statement, just the source. Never mind, it sounds harsher than I intend, so I'll just let this drop.

OH NO! It has to be one of the following:

    1. Inlaws.
    2. Indecision.
    3. Interferance.
    4. Intercourse.
    5. Intellegence.
    6. Migraines.

I guess that if I were into self-inflicting pain, I would re-marry...but I have enough hub material to keep me busy for a while.

So, I'll leave this one up to one of my sisters.

Men who have pierced ears are better prepared for marriage. They've experienced pain and bought jewelry.

Married life is very frustrating. In the first year of marriage, the man speaks and the woman listens. In the second year, the woman speaks and the man listens. In the third year, they both speak and the neighbors listen.

Pride is not the problem. But, nice try. smile

      1. goldenpath profile image70
goldenpathposted 8 years agoin reply to this

Actually it is, but as you so eloquently like to say, "Nice try".

Pride is what prevents us from understanding one another or even gaining the desire to understand one another.  Pride is what's rooted in financial distress in a marriage.  Pride is at the root of infidelity.

In order to master that which is outside the body one must first master the pride within.  It is a life long pursuit but nonetheless - it is the root cause.
